2016 Crawl Control

I've seen a few 2016 threads were people are complaining that they aren't showing how some of the new off road features can actually help get the truck out of trouble so here you go.

Still does not say if its just a fancy word for A-Trac.
And it seems know one knows yet. I have asked on a few threads discussing the 2016 and new features.

 

Why would it function any differently than the other Toyota vehicles that have Crawl Control ?

 

Yes. People need to do a little research on the mounds of existing crawl control info before asking questions to which there is already an answer to. Crawl control has been out since at least 2010.

i wonder if the the TRD offroad package was offered with a front and rear elocker, would we all be upset at the 3rd gen?

 

I'm going to rent one for a few days when they are out in the fleet to see if it actually does better than the 2005-15 models.....

 

Sounds like this fancy new "feature" will simplify turning 1 knob and pressing 1 button down to just turning 1 knob.

 

I know you are just making a point......but I would rather have a power lumbar support. Me thinks that ( front locker) would be a waste of resources. Having a looker is good, two must be better ? Imho, the reliability wild be more affected by a locker on turning wheels with the weight of the engine over it. My neighbor's plow truck has front and rear lockers when I used it for plowing our road, I had to be very careful breaking anything. Unless it has a a high price tag like the Toyotas that do have it, it's not worth the engineering.

 

On the link page, bottom video with Sweers in it has pretty good audio of the exhaust when Ol boy is spinning the wheels. It sounds damn good to me but I may have already drank to much of the kool-aid. Anyone else have an opinion on that?

 

Mmmmmmm gotta love 3.5 exhaust! It sounds better than the 4.0

 

New or not.....gotta admit, that was a pretty impressive demonstration. I'll tip my hat to that one.

 

The comments were brutal. Seems they weren't happy with the drum brake explanation and using "Crawl Control" to backup downhill.

 

Does this control spin on each individual wheel, anyone know?

 

Wait a minute, the '16 still has drum brakes in the rear!?!?

 

It controls each individual driveshaft.
Atrac limits which wheels that power goes to.
