I'll stand corrected. I thought I read it somewhere, but I think you're right. Is that relationship gone between GM/Isuzu?

I never dug into the reason, but the standard Highlander has a capacity of 5500 or so. The hybrid got shorted. I ended up buying a camper at 3300 lbs dry, pulling it two summers with the wife's highlander, then getting the tacoma so that I don't have to worry about it.

Ah yes, diesel for city driving... I can almost see the constant engine problems.
Newer diesel engines are shit and unreliable.

Not that there shit, but they like being worked. All diesels do. The new generation of diesels hate being idled, it plugs up the dpf, and Temps don't get hot enough to burn it out.

As I say they should stop selling consumer cars with diesel engines because regular consumer use is not good for a modern diesel engine. And besides the dpf, the egr is also problematic.

Toyota should go the hybrid route with the tacoma.

This is true. We have a few trucks dedicated to a project just going from a plant back to our facility. Round trip was just a couple of miles. We tried using new trucks and the short trips just didn't sit well with the engines. We had maintained problems constantly. So we switched those out for some older models and put the newer ones over the road. Problem solved.

I really hope this is true. A CVT if properly built can be so much better than any transmission for practically any application as long as, #1. It doesn't weigh too much and #2, it is durable enough.
