So I recently decided to upgrade my 08 access cabs audio. I have a pioneer avh-270bt installed along with with alpine sps-610c on all doors. As a personal preference I prefer the round 6.5s to 6x9s. Anyways, the speakers have an 80w RMS power that I don't the head unit can adequately power. So I recently purchased a kenwood KAC-8406 4 channel amp with the intent of maybe getting a separate powered sub later for under the seat. After looking at the options I'm not really wowed by any of the under-seat powered subs.

So I was wondering. The amp says its 4/3/2 which I interpret as it can be either 4 channel 3 channel or 2 channel if bridging. Would it be better to use this particular amp if I decide to get a real sub in my back seat and only aplifing 1 set of speakers (preferably front) or should I swap out the 4 channel amp for perhaps a 5 channel or just an amp or a potential sub in the future.

So far it all sounds great, I need to pop off the door panels again and liberally apply some deadening material, as the exhaust tends to drone a bit.

i would run it 3 channel

hit the back wall and floor to cut most of the exhaust noise. i did all 4 doors on my 14 AC and it barely made a dent

You could run dual amps. Get one strictly for your sub.

hah, apparently it wasn't that bad of a title, I got some replies. Thanks for the input. I'm not sure on the sub yet, but I kinda jumped the gun on everything. I'm looking for something not too invasive, but for the ACs it looks like it has to be. Thanks for the quick responses.

Might depend on what sub you want. I personally run a 5 channel in my double cab.
