I love your build. I'm picking up a trailer tomorrow to start my own, and I want to use a similar "self-lifting" system for my RTT. My questions is - when the rack is in the lowered position, do you have any issues with rattling etc. from the slack between the 1.25" and 1.50" square tubing?

No rattles on mine. The gas struts put enough lifting tension on the inner tubes that it's all nice and snug.

It's funny sometimes when you learn about people who have been watching your threads without you knowing it. Chris from Kilby Enterprises (makers of the Max Coupler) contacted me a while ago and had been watching my build and trip reports on Expedition Portal and liked how visible the trailer had been. He asked me for feedback on the Max Coupler which I gave him and also wrote an article for TCT magazine about it along with the LocknRoll. Well a few weeks ago Chris sent me a brand new Max Coupler (updated design) for me to try out and give more feedback on. Really impressed with the guy and his commitment to innovation and trying to continually improve his products. Also didn't hurt to get a new coupler. ;)

That looks great Adam! What color paint did you end up using? I painted mine black, but was wanting to go with a darker grey/charcoal color.

I had the factory paint color mixed up and put into spray cans. Paint code was 1A6

Thanks Adam, don't want to mimic your build, but I love that color so I might. Also sad to see the selling of the Tacoma, it popped up under the FB page for "Bring the 70 Series Land Cruiser back". Good luck with the sale of it! Anyone would be lucky to own a truck that well kept and created.

Thanks. The Tacoma could be sold tonight. I've got a serious buyer checking it out today and just want to get his wife's approval. I'll miss the truck.

Hopefully it went well. I bet so! I know I'll have to sale mine one day, and not looking forward to it. Lots of money, sweat and blood goes into our trucks; In that order usually.

Tacoma is officially sold. The new owner is picking it up tonight. Got shipping notification of my new Kukenam XL Ruggedized tent for the trailer today, should be here just in time for Labor Day weekend. Long story short, the guys from Pak-All Trailers in Texas (awesome guys with some killer trailers) were at the Outdoor Retailer show a couple weeks ago showing their trailers with a competitors RTTs on them. They came to check out the Tepui Tents at our booth and didn't want to leave the show without swapping a Tepui Tent onto their trailer for the trip home. We didn't have product for sale at the show so they ended up buying my personal Ruggedized XL (that had only been used once) right off my trailer at the show. They are now a Tepui Tent dealer. :) Anyway, my replacement tent is on it's way.

Another thing that came out of the OR show is a company that makes some really nice aluminum drawer systems that I'm looking at possibly working with. I have a demo model of one of their drawers that I've had in the Cruiser for the past few days but I think it could end up going into the trailer permanently. I'd love to hear some feedback from any of you about what you think of the drawers. They have some really cool features and are full aluminum construction making them very secure. There is a lot of use from Law Enforcement, but they could be a great option for trailers or truck beds. They are a really new company so the website is pretty basic for now but check them out and tell me what you think. I'm still trying to decide if I want to jump on board with them so I'd appreciate your feedback.

Hey man. I know I'm a little late to your build which looks awesome. I'm about to start a very similar build. Where did you order the axle from?

I ordered my axle from a local place called Henderson Wheel. There are several places online that can build custom trailer axles. etrailer.com is one that comes to mind.
