Nonstop rain here in Dallas, but I'm not so sure that's the cause of the water on my floor.

Here's what I've done so far:

    1. Searched Tacoma World
    2. Checked air conditioning drain at the engine firewall. Water comes out at a pretty steady rate.
    3. Checked the cabin filter box. There is no evidence of water ever contaminating in or around the cabin air filter. Dry filter, dry plastics around the filter, no evidence of water stains, etc. As I understand it, this eliminates the air intake TSB. Regardless, there's no water evidence anywhere but on the floor that runs parallel to the road.
    4. Removed pax side trim pieces and lifted up carpet. Does not seem to have leak evidence on the 3 rubber plugs that I can see that plug the bottom of the truck.
    5. There was a small amount of water beading up around the plastic structure that leads to the vent that cools the rear passengers. So I'm wondering if something could have backed up in the AC unit and caused water to slowly pool inside that. There is no evidence of water coming out of the vent under the seat, however.
See the attached photo. The whole carpet is pretty soaked underneath the floor mat. There is no moisture on the upward slope towards the firewall at any point. Does that give yall any clues? I hope the carpet is salvageable. Not looking forward to removing the whole interior to replace this carpet.:(

Occam's razor and all that. Probably a plugged AC drain tube.

Pop the hood and look for the tube that enters the cab on the passenger side. It'll probably be full of gunk.

So I guess I'm missing something and need some further explanation...I don't see the how the intake can be the problem based on where the water is pooling. Where does the water flow from the intake? My filter (glovebox location) shows no evidence of water contimination.

See point #2. It's flowing out pretty steady. Could a partial blockage in that tube actually cause the problems I'm experiencing?

We just had a decent rain for about 20 minutes. Went outside, popped the hood, and pulled up the plastic cover over the airbox. There was no evidence of water getting past the seal at the windshield. I was able to see the microfilter.

Because the microfilter has had no evidence of water damage, it's clearly not the air intake problem that has been experienced by others on this forum.

The leaves and junk from this awful allergy season are quite crispy :p

I also checked the rubber drain hose with a Q-tip. Nothing in there.

No. My truck is bone stock, minus the DEPO headlights I replaced myself when the DRL lenses cracked.

    Question:

Is there anyplace that water is prone to accumulate after a rain, and after a certain quantity, can start leaking into the floor from below?

What you're looking at is the duct that eventually goes under the front passenger seat to cool the rear pax. One from far away. The closer one shows water next to this duct

I took the truck to a local Lexus/Toyota shop and they sat it under a sprinkler system with the front pax carpet pulled up. The water came in from the rear in this small stream that apparently isn't soaking the rear carpet.

The source? Appears to be somewhere from the rear window. I have the sliding glass, so I hope that won't be part of the complication. I asked them to verify that it isn't the overhead trim that runs from front to back over the cab. I'm not sure if that even has a potential of leaking (maybe it is just a trim piece?)...maybe someone here would know.

After a couple trips to the dealer, making sure the ac drained properly, and replacing the carpet I still had water and bad smell. I decided to investigate the issue myself. The carpet was getting wet back left portion of the front passenger floor. The exhaust runs under the floor and even with the heat shield in place the floor gets pretty hot. While I had the carpet pulled up, the only place I noticed water was forming on the bottom of the vent duct when I ran the AC. As the condensation formed it was weeping through the padding. I removed the whole plastic vent tube that directs air to the back seat as a test and the problem went away. No more soaked passenger floor.

Do you have a picture of the plastic vent tube? Is it fairly big or an actual tube?

My truck had the same issue the last rain storm(pass side) but I have not had a problem when running thu the brushless car wash.

Edit:truck was parked on a slight slope, pass side slightly higher than the drivers side.

Here you go! I pulled the carpet back removed the section in the photo. It sits below the carpet as shown. After making sure this was the issue I also pulled the smelly wet padding off and trashed it. image.jpg

Did you have to do anything for the water soaked factory sound deadening material (painted silver)?
