Here's my take from a 1st Gen owner.
I like the 2016! And 'if' my 1st gen sells I will buy a DCSB offroad version.
Was never interested as much in upgrading until I saw this one. I like the grill, styling, and especially the interior.

I've been emailing 3 dealers in AZ.
1st dealer claims to have 8 Offroads allocated. One being a silver DCSB with premium sound package and floor mats for $38524. When asked how much below MSRP they'd sell it he replied their price would be $1500 over invoice which he claims is $36044. $399 doc fees plus tax.

2nd dealer says there are ONLY 2 offroads allocated for all of AZ. When pressed for more details he replied back with the same invoice (VIN and all) from the 1st dealership. Asked WTF and he replied back with another invoice (different VIN) with a couple added items. Also claimed his price would be better than the 1st dealer.

3rd dealer replied with an invoice and said they'd be selling at MSRP.

You shouldn't have to get one that was initially headed to your area. Mine was originally headed 2400 miles away.

I'd be satisfied with the Silver one he has. Also has other colors except my 1st choice of dark grey. Not a huge deal. Silver should show pin-striping less :)

Just need my 1st gen to sell.

I just sold my 2009 DCSB OR for $1,300 over what the dealer was offering me for a trade. That's great news except for now I have to bum rides for a couple weeks.

Also keep in mind that ordering a Toyota of any type is actually a royal PITA at any time - they just are not really set up for it b/c of the way they run the allocation system most of the time. Mazda may have a better way of dealing with it. Dunno but it might be a factor.

Stock rims with plastic dip. Stock tires size 265/70R16. But the blacked out rims make them look bigger huh? Also I removed the mud flaps

I just talked to my Sales Rep. No 16 Tacomas on the lots after Sept 1. Sept 1-5 is the official rollout. Toyota is planning for most dealerships to get one or more that week.

The only real people that are going to know when the 2016's are coming are the Managers, and in some cases, the General Managers. I had to order mine through the GM and Toyota's system of allocations. Hopefully I get mine in the second allocation to the dealer but I could be waiting anywhere from 4-8 weeks from now. I should get a build date later this week or early next week of it was approved to be switched with one that they were already getting.

Also, I put $0 down on it and it was listed in the allocation under my name so it won't accidentally be sold to someone else while I wait for it to arrive. The GM said if I end up not getting it he won't have a problem finding another buyer so I could order whatever I wanted

gosh, I wish I knew that going into ordering my 16' TRD Sport AC/MT. I just ordered a few weeks ago from Toyota of Escondido (random Sales guy) as well. Mine should be here towards the end of Sept. I guess.... Price from the Toyota website ( http://toyotanews.pressroom.toyota.com/releases/2016+toyota+tacoma+debut+aug17.htm ) with the Tech Pkg, and taxes n etc, will run around $37,200! SO much for a Tacoma man... ridiculous

I am hoping with South East Toyota I can get my choice of truck colors and options, from ALL SET dealers. They trade vehicles amongst each other, When a Build a truck is conducted , it chooses from ALL SET dealers as well as local dealer.

I'm dealing with a 'One Price One person' dealership. His price is $1500 over dealer cost, says he won't budge. Build date on the one I want was today, 8-26-15! He has been super straight forward with me and is close to my house. Other dealerships have been the 'typical salesman'. Can't figure out if I should go for it or try with the typical salesman. Seems the hassle may not be worth it.

I think thats ok for a new truck. Tacoma discounts are never huge anyway. I never heard 15-20% off a $32,000 Tacoma truck like I read with other domestic and Import dealers, which is why resale is so high as well
