The third wire is going to be your ground.

Edit: The two 12v wires are likely going to be a "Constant ON" and the other is likely a "Switched ON."

Second Edit: I'm waiting for Bob to get a mirror in so I can do this mod. When I get it in, I'll look further into what exactly each wire is. Or, you can look further into this site. I'm 95% certain it has been covered here before.

No expert here by any means, but I was under the impression that the temp sensor you're seeing is the air intake temp sensor. Others correct me if i'm wrong. If you have a scan gauge II you can read temps from that but it'll give you close outdoor temps at highway speeds only. I installed the new sensor for the mirror underneath that one you're referring to. When and if you order from Bob he will ask you how many wires you have so he can give you the correct harness for an easy install. This mod was fun to do, but again, the biggest pain in the rear was getting through the firewall. I don't recommend trying to pass through with the large bundle of wires.

You very well could be right on that. Good luck on your install.

I'm glad to hear you have the same sensor I do, and used the new sensor Bob sent you as well. I just don't want to have most of everything I need already in place, and not even use it.

As for passing wires through the firewall. You may already be doing this, but I have found it easiest to use a single piece of thick wire (I believe I had about a 2 ft. piece of 12ga. wire.), bend one end into a hook, bend the wires being pulled over this hook, and tape over the hook so it does not get caught or let the wires fall off. When I installed my spotlights I actually went through the rubber boot around the bundle of wires going through the firewall. I simply pushed a knife through the rubber boot (careful not to cut a wire), and shoved the un-hooked side of the thick wire through until I saw it on the other side, then simply pulled it the rest of the way. Like I said, you very well may already be doing this, but I just thought I would put it out there.

Installed my mirror and temperature sensor I got from Bob, and everything is working great. The install went smooth, and I have had several comments from different people telling me it looks factory.

We do...these have white compass display, white backlit buttons, and a small white LED on the bottom of the mirror (not a maplight, just some mood light or whatever it's referred to, lol!). These are autodim/Homelink/compass (compass temp not available in white display). Mirror kits are $269 - email me at rearviewmirrors@csinet.net if you'd like to order.

UPDATE on the GNTX-453 series of autodim-compass-temp-Homelink mirrors. We have located a supply of brand new mirrors if anyone is interested in them. They're quite a bit higher than the original price, but at least there are some new ones available if anyone is interested. Price on a kit with a brand new mirror is $399 including shipping, plus sales tax if you're in Michigan or plus $15 shipping if you're in Canada. Email me at rearviewmirrors@csinet.net if you would like to purchase one. When emailing me, let me know the year of your Tacoma. If you have a 2015, you'll need to determine if your truck has the 14 pin plug in place and whether it's got 2 wires or 3 wires in the harness, or has no mirror wiring whatsoever. All 2014's have the wiring in place. If you need the mirror for a 2009-2013 Tacoma, it should still work, but some of those trucks are missing the constant hot wire in the plug...so if you have one of these I can help you determine if yours has the constant hot wire in place. Thank you!!

Is there a mirror that has the above mentioned options as well as backup camera?

I have basic regular cab without any wires I believe in the headliner. If I wanted to install a frameless mirror with homelink... what wires do I need to run? I assume the homelink garage door function is built in to the mirror. Do you sell that cable?

Yes there is...we have kits that are based on the GENK3350 mirror, which has autodim, compass, temp, homelink & 3.3" backup camera display. We have these available for the 2012-2013 Tacoma's that are prewired for the camera option, cost on these kits is $599; for the 2014 and newer trucks or for non-prewired 2009-2013 trucks, you'll need the regular GENK3350S kit as you'll have some wiring to do, and the cost on the regular kit is $659 (for the 2014-2015 trucks, if they have the factory mirror connector in place, we can customize the GENK3350S harness for no extra charge and add the factory 14 pin mirror connector to it so that the ignition & ground or ignition/battery/ground connections would be plug & play, so it will save you from doing some of the wiring on your own).

Hi - for these mirrors, you'll need three connections: ignition, battery & ground & everything is self-contained within the mirror. The frameless mirror kits we have for sale include the wiring harnesses with the mirrors for trucks that do not have the wiring in place. Here's a link to one of the messages we posted on the forum regarding the frameless mirrors: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...w-availalable-for-the-2009-15-tacomas.352783/

    Hi Bob,
Just to clarify, since I have a regular cab and no wiring at all...your price included long harness to route through the A column and then into the headliner? I was on the fence about getting it...but the full wiring kit is provided...would be worth it. I don't care for compass as most NAV systems will have it and I don't want annoying LEDs distracting me. So please let me know how long is the wiring kit? Thanks!

My truck has that Green wire also but it was terminated prior to the plug and just taped to the bundle.

The wiring kits with these mirrors are right around 9 feet long, which is plenty long enough to reach the bottom of the dash on just about any vehicle.

Hi Bob, I would like to add my name to the list for one of the new mirrors with comp, temp, auto dim, and home link. I have a 2015 DC. I read that you need to know what connector I have. Do you have install instructions describing what has to be done to gain access to the connector to see what I have
