255's, right? I wonder why the ST Maxx's don't look skinny even in pizza cutter sizes.

I think the biggest impact on city mpg is how you drive

Sorry, I should clarify that I use mid grade ethanol free fuel and I never run the a/c unless I'm on the hwy. Probably makes a noticeable difference.
    Also have stock bumper.

ST Maxx's looking sexy. These tires perform perfect no matter what gets thrown at them.

dig the looks and the performance reports on these...but the mileage scares me....how's the highway noise?

Mileage is the same on my 255/85/16 as it was on 265/70/16.

Road noise is non existent unless on a sharp curve and doing 40mph+
    even then it's very quiet...

They are super heavy tires, but that doesn't seem to negatively affect MPGs in my experience (have been tracking mileage for over 6000 miles!)

What kind of mileage have you heard these get? I had discover ST's 2 sets of tires before this and got 50k out of them both. I hope to see at least 40k out of these and I think I will.

x2 on the road noise, theyre alot quieter than the regular ST's. I also haven't seen any negative hits against my MPG, they're a little heavier than some off-road tires out there, but still decently light compared to some of the others. Of course it really depends on the size you get.

Sorry, I wasn't clear, I was referring to MPG, not overall life, but that's good to know as well.

My issue is I want a more aggressive tire for snow, occasional light offroad/sand/mud, and who am I kidding, looks....but my truck does a lot of highway driving and MPG matters. I've got a AC TRD sport with V6/auto. If I'm well behaved on the highway, I can get over 20MPG. I'm thinking this tire is the best at bridging the two worlds: bad ass tires with road manners.

One guy on here was talking about getting 14 mpg. maybe thats his city avg, but that would be out of the question for me.

Ah I got ya, honestly if you look over on expedition portal, you'll see alot of guys preaching about these tires capabilities in the snow and from what I can tell they all right. Now we never have snow in TX...like ever, but when we were in CO we hit some and they chomped right through it.

And 14 MPG, maybe if you drive like Ricky Bobby, but I've never gotten that bad of MPG.

I just replaced my rear shocks and have a pic of my Maxxs at around 32K miles on the tires. Still a lot of tread left.

That's exactly what I was looking for in a tire and I ended up with these. I would say I made the right choice!

While in the wheel well I wire brushed and spray canned the frame, leafs and axles. It's an on going effort to fight East coast rust.

True. I think city mpg and running ac makes a big difference. I run 87, I am going to try on my next fill up top grade gas just to see if it makes any noticeable difference.

I don't drive like a racecar driver but lets face it these tires are heavy. I like the tire a lot and I think its worth the trade off. I just really have not had a chance to really use them.

When I had the factory tires I could get 320 out of a tank HWY and about 17 mpg city and averaged about 19mpg city hwy.
