Mine is just fiberglass as well, but it is very clean and not noticeable at all unless you really lean over and look up underneath the shell. Like Sdtrueblue said, perhaps it was just a bad cut?

Still haven't heard anything from Snugtop about the edges. Pencil eraser sized chunks of fiber glass have flaked off underneath the rail and more fibers are loose. I haven't contacted my dealer yet as I'm not able to make the 2 hour drive until at least the first of August.

    Sucks.

@SnugTop is habitually not present when complaints and issues are presented.

I have new taco 15 sr5 shortbed. No off road ing. Just dogs, fish, garden. Considering the topper, cover, or truckbox. Is there a pro con thread? Anyone put a topper and regret it? Thanks in advance.

Count yourself lucky that yours came with a bedrail.. I'm going to have to contact snugtop and ask them why I don't have one.. My seal is totally exposed and when it rains my bed floods:annoyed:

I saw a first gen with a Snugtop Rebel on it last week. Took a good close look at it and the top does not wrap around the bed rail like it does for the 2nd gens. The seal was not visible from the outside though.

I have yet to see a Snugtop on a 2nd gen that had the lip around the rail falling apart from the inside like mine does. I've stopped and looked at a few now and they all look really nice. I'm going to the dealer on August 4th and something will be done.

Their website clearly states that my shell (HiLiner) has a wrap-around fiberglass rail. Pissed as hell that the one I have doesn't! I didn't pay 2grand to get anything less than perfection. Bastards.

I've been seriously considering the purchase of a SnugTop Outback. I have to say that I'm a bit skeptical after reading this thread. I notice that @SnugTop started it and at the first mention of a quality issue stopped posting (yet continued to show up and like pictures in other subsequent posts). That's not the kind of customer service experience that I expect or want when laying down the kind of $$$$ involved in purchasing an Outback. My fear is now that I'll wind up with a product that was poorly qc'd and be stuck in a poor customer service loop between the dealer and the manufacturer. Seeing SnugTop step up and address the issues of others would completely allay concerns that I have. I'd just hate to spend $3k on the shell I want and wind up with the frustrations other have mentioned!

Gracias, señor! It'd be greatly appreciated. I love the shell, I just got serious cold feet reading this thread.

Following this too!!! Currently trying to decide between Snugtop and Leer.....

When paying a premium for a Leer or a Snugtop, I'd expect top notch customer service and the manufacturers to stand behind their product.

I had a leer on my last truck and a snugtop on this truck. I loved the handle that he leer had since you could keep it locked or unlocked and open it when ever. Mine only came with the key lock so I had to use the key EVERY time I wanted to open the canopy; it was a huge hassle. I recently changed out my whole window assembly with their second tier handle which pops out when it is unlocked and it can either stay popped out (unlocked) or locked and pressed back in. It has been a useful upgrade but it is still not as nice as the handle that is like the one that Leer makes since you can also program that to be lockable with the truck.
I bought the Snugtop originally because I found it used for $800 and I have put a lot of work into the rotopax holders, LED interior lights and roof rack but if I could do it all over again I would have waited for a Leer with the nice handle or maybe even the reinforced snugtop with the nice handle.

Sorry guys I've been pretty busy, didn't get around to contacting Snugtop until today. They will supposedly be contacting me within 48 hours. If that doesn't happen, I will start cold-calling them until I get some answers.

    Stay tuned!:hungry:

Well it's been 5 days and I haven't been contacted by @SnugTop even though their auto-reply email clearly stated that I would hear from a representative within 48 hours.

Looks like Monday will be the start of my inevitable game of phone tag with customer service reps:rolleyes:

I used their site to contact a dealer. Site said it'd be 48 hours and it was more in the range of 10 days before I heard from the dealer. I'm pretty certain the dealer reached out to me as soon as they got the message. It seems to me the SnugTop is just terribly outmoded! I dig the Outback but man am I afraid of dealing with a company that does such a poor job on the customer service side.
