I've seen heaps of praise from one end of this forum to the other regarding the fabulous Dunlop Grandtreks that come stock on many Tacomas. Please share wonderful stories of how your Dunlops never ever left you hanging, on road, or off. Share your incredibly minimal tread wear and amazing mileage life. Please share how your Grandtreks enabled you to cross Death Valley, traverse the Tail of the Dragon, and kept your ride smooth & quiet on the Jersey turnpike. Share how you pulled a 40' hog trailer through 20" of mud in a blizzard without any slippage. Feel free to post wonderful memes praising the rightfully named Grandtreks! /s

I wonder what the "AT" stands for. "Absurd Treadlife?"

Well they did OK for 25,000 miles but just pulled the plug on some P245/75R-16 MICHELIN LTX M/S2 for my 2013. I still have tread on the Dunlops so Ill toss them in the basement in case of some financial apocalypse or something. Ah well I didn't do any Grandtreking, just fishing and truck stuff. I can't wait for the new ones to come in.

Here is picture of me on my way to the ole fishing hole. I try to stay away from downward slopes, Being from Kansas I like things nice and flat.

Mine lasted me about 13k miles before one got a hole in the sidewall from a small stick on the road! At that point they were at 10% tread on all of them, so I put on a set of bfg a/t ko and am much happier. Those tires were funny in corners, there is absolutely no sidewall strength so instead of the truck getting body roll the tire just kinda rolled under itself.
I got more mileage out of my stock mustang gt tires, and that car was sideways more than it was straight!

Had to plug on around 5k. Have 20k of highway and country background driving and they're about toast. Very squishy ride and no traction in rain or snow. Always annoyed me how they would squeel going around turns and corners even going like 5mph.

Never really got all the hate towards them but man these do suck.

I've never seen a Dunflop worth any love. Even in their 'performance' line.

Me neither. :( Had various OEM Dunflops on different vehicles ... never impressed and NEVER bought a set that didn't come on the vehicle.

The ones I had on my personal truck actually lasted quite a while, never left me stranded, and had pretty good traction on most surfaces. The ones on my work truck were toast after 10,000 miles and a sharp rock through the center of the tread.

No complaints on mine except they only lasted 21k.

One can never have too many light bars.
I think there should be a "skilled driver" designation my my drivers license that will qualify me for lower insurance rates. The qualifications are "drive through a blizzard in the wonderful dunlop AT 20's" I've done it a few times successfully. I can truly say these tires have made me a better driver and more aware of road surfaces.

Still got 'em on my '93, they're quickly worn and don't clean for nothing but have still surprised me through mud.
Maybe the truck doing the work, or me!
Would I ever recommend them? Hardly even as a spare.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Excellent dry weather tire; quiet and soft as butter. Other than that what a pos.

I love how they squeak going around corners. It makes me feel like I'm in a sports car taking a hairpin turn going 50 mph. Until I see the 10 on my speedometer.

I don't quite "get" complaints about factory tires. I bought the truck. I couldn't give a shit less about the tires they give me with it. Would it be nice to have a high quality tire from the lot? Sure I guess, we're spending lots of money and tires that will last 2 years or more would be great.

But, tires are really a personal choice. If they gave an AT, the highway guys would complain about the tires. If a highway tire, the AT guys complain about the tires.

So I am perfectly happy to have some kind of cheap roller to get me through until I can pick my own tire choice for my needs. I bought a Tacoma, OEM tires played ZERO roll in my choice of vehicles. Completely a non issue.

You would think Toyota would demand a more substantial tire on their trucks, especially the 4X4's. Even the Rugged Trails are lousy for anything except street driving.
