For the record, I'm not a dick. It was a suggestion. Never had a problem with anyone. The truck looks so much better with them off anyway. Also, you're to close to my truck if I'm making rocks hit your windshield. It doesn't matter if you are on the highway or on a trail, if your not at least 3 car lengths behind me, of course dependent on traffic, then you are too close. And if you have a problem with being behind me, then get in front.

I've thought about taking mine off... but...

Exactly. I had two windshield chips within a week. First got repaired. Second one cracked. Now my windshield is going to need replaced soon... crack is slowly growing from the upper corner across my view.

My Michelin LTX M/S 2's have a tendency to pick up and throw pea sized gravel. I'm not sure i want that crap hitting the sides of my truck - or being that dude who ruins someone else's windshield. I hear rocks bounce off my N-Fab side steps all the time even with my mud flaps on!

Last rock that hit and cracked my windshield came from a vehicle traveling the OPPOSITE direction I was. Rocks don't always go backward...

Against my better judgement, of which I should just not say any more in this thread, stones on the highway can travel a hell of a lot more than 3 car lengths at 70mph- if you don't have mudflaps! It's physics. The upward angle of the stone flying off your wheel is far increased without mudflaps. Now with mudflaps- agreed! 3 car lengths and likely no way a stone from your tire will hit anyone else. But when stones are able to leave your tire at a 60 degree angle to the ground at 70mph I can be 15 car lengths behind you and get hit by your rocks flying all over the place. Oh, and if your truck is lifted it makes it even worse. But thank god your truck looks pisser man, fuck everyone else.

Was not expecting as much backlash from any of you. You want mud flaps, go ahead and keep them on. Its my personal preference to take them off.

Personally I'd love to take my mudflaps off. I agree it would look better. I'm just worried about ruining my own paint job - and have very recently had windshield damage twice in a single week. So I'm more sensitive to it. ;)

I've got a high clearance rear bumper so I can't have flaps out back..

Those on Mr Grimms don't really add any protection from throwing rocks.. Other mud flaps are to wide and unless you weld a bracket onto your frame theres no good way to attach them

I took mine off and debadged my tailgate. No one has any idea I'm driving around in a Prerunner.

Seems there has to be a suitable solution though. Don't most states require mudflaps? Especially if you've altered the factory ride height?

Unless they greet your Tacoma properly... by getting under and smelling it's crotch. They'd notice some missing parts eventually. ;)

I want to debadge my Taco too. Don't own a heat gun or a blow dryer and not looking forward to the time to do it.

Washington state enforces it but its not a primary offense, meaning they can't pull you over for just that. Although in my case they will make up an excuse to pull you over (say you have a tail light out) and then get you for that. That happened to me once coming home from a trail before I had the rear HC (had 1 rear mud flap on, 1 fell off on the trail).

the oem hitch is still attach to my oem bumper. If you mean the OEM bumper bolts then im still not going to drill into my frame for something like that, just another area for my frame to rust. I live in a country town and cops couldn't care less about mud flaps unless your on 40's with no flaps

Nope that was a brand new cop who was being trained and I was coming over the mountain pass. The main officer even said any normal cop wouldn't have pulled me over but since he was training a guy he had to.

What do you mean as the OEM hitch receiver bolts? The hitch receiver doesn't actually attach to the frame. Attaches to the bumper which then attaches to the frame. Maybe there is a few bolts but when I took off my OEM bumper the receiver came off with the bumper

Ohh I see what you mean. Um it happens but not very common. The main officer came up first and told me that excuse, then the guy being trained came up and talked to me about not having mud flaps, gave me a warning. I guess it was the first day on the job for him

My OEM bumper only had 4 bolts per side I think.. :notsure:

Nope same thing happened to my dads assistant at work. She was out at 3am taking samples from the jail to the local hospital for work, was pulled over and the cop asked what she was doing out. Showed her work badge, then he said "oh.. well you have a tail light out so might want to get that fixed. Have a nice night." and he left. She didn't have a tail light out.
