I would be willing to bet that Toyota has a very good idea how many trucks have had frames replaced, coated and not brought in. Those estimates are probably how they figured out the amount of the lawsuit and I am sure they are tracking it. For accounting purposes alone they will have to account for how much it actually cost them. They are a public company. Its out there somewhere.

Oh, I know Toyota knows, but it would be interesting to see some numbers.

Well my 05 DCSB 4x4 is in for frame replacement. Bought the truck in April and took in to Haley Toyota Tuesday for a state inspection and was informed of the frame rust recall. Got a call Wednesday eve that it failed and was unsafe to drive, and that it would be five to six months before I got it back. Talked to my service guy this morning and found out there are fifteen truck there waiting on frames. So far Haley seems to be on the up and up, not really thrilled with the wait time but what can you do? If anyone out there has feed back about there experience with Haley Toyota in Chesterfield Va I'd love to hear it.

Had my '07 inspected yesterday. I'm now on the 6-month wait list for the frame replacement. In the mean time, I keep my truck. Excited and nervous at the same time. Now to start putting together the list of upgrades I plan on having them install (for free!).

The 4 leaf pack they put on.
Was it 3 leafs plus helper spring?
No.no pics of the hole, and the dealer chopped the frame in half after he took it off.so I couldn't get a pic of my bad frame.

Hey all, put my 2007 in for all 5 recalls(if it aint broke don't fix it) and was notified today it needed a frame. I find out tomorrow how bad and how long for the new frame. Noticed quite a few older Tacomas in the service lot when I dropped mine off. Wonder if they were on the waiting list:eek:. I'll keep you all posted.

6-8 months for frame. I'm in pa. Took my truck in November '14. Completed Saturday.
Do not let them cut your gas pedal in half.
It's Toyotas fix for a-holes not knowing how to position their floor mats.
It will make it a bitch to reach your gas pedal.

Thanks for the info Marty, I have weather tech mats and never had an issue with the accelerator pedal. 6 to 8 months is a damn long time. I'll find out more when I pick it up this morning...

Mine is cut and I don't have any problems with reaching it......

It's not in half. They only cut about 1" off it.

Went to pick my Taco up yesterday and the airbag light on the dash was still on:eek:. Went back in and was told they didn't do any of the recalls because of the frame rust. Will do them all with the frame swap. I left the Tacoma and told them to at least take care of the airbag problem as I'm not going to drive it around with an airbag problem. Will take pictures of the frame when I get it back.

I'm always willing to work with the dealer on repair issues - but when "They" decide what they will do and send you on your way with nothing done is just poor customer service ....

I agree on that, that's why I don't take it back to the dealership unless I absolutely have to (5 recalls) and the problem with the airbag is why I took it in:eek:. Will post frame pictures when I get it back.

got my truck back saturday morning. they did a great job, i dont hear anything out of the ordinary but i will keep an ear out while things settle. also, talked to a service manager at the dealership. i asked him about how many frames they are spraying vs. replacing frames. he said its about 50-50 and its a shame because those who had their frames sprayed will most likely rot out because its too late. he also said that some people from toyota japan are coming by their dealership later this year to inspect a few models from 2009, 2010, and 2011 to see how the frames are holding up to the winter salt after they changed the frame composition specs. that would be interesting to find out.

have a question now, i noticed the same holes i was concerned with in the frame are still present. is it worth the $50 to buy a plug kit for the frame? they don't sell them individually, they only have it there for the whole kit. i was mainly concerned with plugging up the ones where the tires could direct salt runoff and junk down into the frame but maybe i should spring for the whole kit?

    Yes.
    It's worth the $50.
