So 12 pages is a lot to read, and I'll admit i've read the first and last 2 pages

I'm interested in suppressing at least 1 pistol. I run Glocks almost exclusively (save for revolvers and 22s) so it will be a Glock. I've been told there's some issue with suppressors and recoil and how the Glock functions?

With that being said. I have Glocks in 9mm, 40, 10mm, and 380. I'll obviously have to buy a threaded barrel, but recommend me a can and pick out which Glock you'd put it on

    2nd

I don't have the $$ yet to pony up for a can and stamp, so I'm thinking I'll start by forming my trust. My interest here is that I'll be forming the trust with my best friend and fellow officer. We have discussed this route so either of us can take out any of the toys we eventually own bc he's saving for a SBR/Can and long term FA. Is this correct? If we're both part of the trust, then either of us can be in possession of the stuff without the other there? Any issue forming the trust now even if I'm not currently ready to buy?

To me, suppressors are most fun when you don't need ear protection to use them, so I'd recommend a quality 9mm can since subsonic 9mm is cheap (almost all 147 gr and up 9mm is subsonic) and relatively quiet. AAC TiRant is what I have, but there are others. If you think you want to suppress your other pistols then you can go with a 45 ACP can and suppress everything below that, however that's what I did and looking back I'd rather just have a dedicated 9mm can that is smaller and a bit quieter. You lose some efficiency going "over-bore".

You will probably have troubles getting your 380 to function reliably with a big can on it.

    I know nothing about trusts.

Reading through this thread because a google search of "huntertown arms guardian 22XL" review brought me back to TW and I came back across this.

I have since moved to a "free state" and set up a trust, a trustee is going to be purchasing a 22 LR (17 HMR capability is a plus also) and letting me use it on my .22.

The way the lawyer explained it is the trust is the owner, so possession by me is fine since I'm in the trust.

I'm also preparing to submit some paperwork to build an SBR, just not sure what caliber to go with.

i have a Ruger SR556. I'm considering a suppressor. I have a dealer just down the road from me, but I'd like to hear some of the suggestions from you guys before I start talking to a dealer. What would you recommend? I want one to reduce noise nuisance. I'm a pretty low volume shooter, but that might change when I start suppressing.

I'd be comfortable in the $500-$700 price range, since there's a $200 tax tag on top.

I'd suggest skipping it. A suppressor on a 16" 223 AR makes it a slightly less loud, but still quite damaging to the ear, even longer AR.

Probably not a popular opinion but after several thousand rounds of suppressed 22 lr/9mm/223/300 blk/308, I'll tell you that supersonic 223 is loud suppressed. 22 lr is badass suppressed. 9mm subsonic is pretty great too. 300 blk subsonic is nice. Suppressed 308 in a bolt gun makes hunting a lot more fun. 223 out of an AR is still obnoxious, and you still have to wear ear pro, and your 16" barrel is now 24" and weighs a pound more, and it gets so hot after a mag you can't touch it. The last AR I built didn't even get a suppressor compatible flash hider, because I never shoot 223 suppressed anymore. I have better go-quiet calibers.

If you want a 556 suppressor I'd go for this one (Personal preference really) http://www.advanced-armament.com/556-SD_p_648.html

But if you get a 7.62 suppressor (and shoot 556 through it, you can also shoot 308, 300 BLK, 6.8 SPC, and other calibers) I'd go with something like this. http://www.advanced-armament.com/762-SD_p_649.html

    Good info here.

I appreciate the responses. I was looking at the 556 SD over the M4-2000. But if suppressing a 16" 556 is worthless, then I'll spend the money on something else. I'd really love to hear some on my rifle before making a decision, but I'm not sure that'll be possible where I'm at.

I think you're on the right track with trying to hear it before you spend the cash and time to get one. Good luck in whatever you decide!

Do NOT buy anything by AAC. I repeat: do NOT buy anything by AAC.

They've fallen off the face of the earth and lots of current suppressor owners are quite upset with them and it's well documented all over the internet. Plenty of firearm forums have countless people talking about their QD mount becoming defective after a few dozen uses (normal use BTW) and AAC is basically nowhere to be found. Their initial excuse was the Remington buy-out which was last year and then their excuse was because of their relocating which was at the start of this year. Complete BS. Fortunately, the only AAC suppressor I have is a 22LR direct thread so hopefully the rest of the suppressor holds up and I won't have to deal with their customer service but if I do, I'm not looking forward to that potential endeavor. If you haven't yet married yourself to that company through the purchase of an NFA item consider yourself lucky and go elsewhere.

I bought my 22LR suppressor over a year ago and it qualified for their '$200 Damn the Man rebate' which was $200 towards accessories on their website. How convenient that they had literally NOTHING available on their accessories website for over a year after everyone got their rebates. That's pretty hacky right there. Even now it's just a few mounts trickling back into stock here and there.

Unless you're addicted to NFA like my I would make .223/5.56 the last thing you suppress. The true beauty of that round is the velocity it packs and there's no good/easy way to make that jive with a suppressor. Suppressors really do shine with subsonic ammo and larger, higher grain projectiles are what you want for subsonic. My 300blk suppressed out of a 9" barrel is a thing of beauty. Suppressed subsonic 22LR is laughable. Subsonic pistol calibers are a blast to run. I can go on but I think you get the point.

Grantor and Trustees may be in possession of the items contained in the trust. Since you are both part of the trust, there is no transfer involved. I had mine written up about 90 days before my first purchase...I don't think there is any expiration or anything if you set it up this month, then wait till spring to make your first purchase. (I am not a lawyer, the above is not "fact".)

I have a long time best friend included in my trust. Originally he was to be my Beneficiary, but decided to change that to allow him to make purchases. Be sure to clearly spell out any language involving disputes and beneficiaries. I had mine written by an online firm who was gracious enough to answer about a hundred questions prior to getting any payment. Also, remember that state laws play into Trust formations and executions.

I bought 2 Tirant 9s for $400 ea from Silencer Shop on sale. Hope I never need any customer service and the fixed spacers were a bitch to find in stock anywhere, but the price sure was right.

Well, I burned through a few hundred rounds of .22 today in my integrated Ruger 22/44z. I'll try to post a video of it compared to a standard mkiii

Since we talk tax stamps in here as well....what should I SBS ? My Ithaca 37 (will slam fire) or my stoeger coach fun (2 triggers...I'm just dumb enough to pull both at once)

Everything echoed at this range....no matter what

I am waiting on my Griffin Revolution .45 should be here any day. It will sit on my nearly finished AR9 pistol build until I get my stamp info sent off for the sbr. image.jpg
