Getting my left rear spring changed tomorrow am, hopefully with will stop the knocking (875 miles on the clock)

Edit: 1 new leaf spring(left) No more clunking from 1st to 2nd shifting.

Tech who did the swap said he asked the senior tech what to put of the tag for return as he couldn't find a physical defect on the old part.

Marina Del Ray Toyota gave me two new leaf springs at no charge, they even rented a car for me to use while then fixed my truck.
when I was driving away the MDR service adviser told me these were not recall leaf springs and they would install the recall spings for free once they were mfc.

My drivers side spring began to do the infamous squeak a few weeks ago. I also saw a tacoma backing up the other day, and his springs were squeaking so loudly I heard it over the noise of the traffic and over my radio. Was funny, but when the hell are they going to fix this shit?

I was at the dealership yesterday asking about this and they told me they are still waiting on Toyota for a fix. They said they inspect it every time I take it in for maintenance to ensure its safe to drive.

I have a 2013 TRD Sport PreRunner with 23k miles. Over the past couple of weeks, I've noticed a squeak (sounds like a cardinal chirping to me) coming from the driver's side rear tire. I'll admit that I do not know a lot about my truck and my first thought was my shock busted. However, after reading some of your replies above, I believe it has to do with the leaf springs. I plan to take it to the dealership since it is still under warranty. I believe this should be covered under my 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty, right?

Yes that would be covered under warranty and maybe even fall under the recall. If you enter your VIN here it will tell you if your truck falls under that recall. Mine did, but no fix as of yet.

Odd question, but how long did your repair take? I want to take mine in but I can't go without my vehicle for an entire work day, and I'm not sure I'd qualify under the Transportation Assistance Policy.

I had the same problem a few years back. Turned out there was a TSB for replacement pad that go between the leafs. See my pic @ https://www.tacomaworld.com/media/spring-silencer-pad.142901/. Not sure if it's your issue, but a start.

OK called and set up an appointment with the dealership. they told me they had my parts, I call ahead and ask if they have them the day of my appointment. they say "no, your vehicle has an inspection appointment, whats the problem with the spring?" i tell them its broken, they told me to bring it in they would replace them with factory springs so i do. when i get there i wait 2.5 hours while they "inspect it" they then come and tell me they're looking for springs. After another 1.5 hours they tell me there are no springs anywhere and that they are on back order. Now they are holding my truck until they can get parts, because they wont be responsible if i drive it off the lot. Sorry for the rant, but im fed up with Toyota's BS!!!!

Dealer I went to offered a free rental. Sounds like some dealers can't be bothered.

My dealership would have let me have a loaner but they were all out so they brought in free Hertz rental. Kinda sucked because all they had was a Chevy Spark to offer, felt like I was driving around in a clown car.

I just had my frame and leafs done and wanted to share my opinion. I used to have the dreaded vibration at low speeds just starting out. Not anymore. Don't know what fixed it but I don't have it now so I'm a happy camper. I do have a vibration braking at higher speeds but is non existent at lower speeds. Used to believe it was the rear drums since they were recently replaced with aftermarket but now I think it's something with the drive shaft. Not sure. It's not that bad at all just annoying.

:jerkoff: This shit just goes on and on and on. One big stroke fest from Toyota. Almost a year later were supposed to still buy waiting for a remedy, springs on back order, cant find a supplier, blah blah. At this point I cant see this in any other way but total bullshit. I've called Corporate, stroke job, Two Dealers, stroke job. I'm very unimpressed with this alleged recall.

My truck has been at dealership for over two weeks now. Very unhappy with my service. They were rude and lied about everything.

RECALL Subject : Leaf Spring may Fracture and Puncture Tank

    Details [IMG]
    11 Associated Documents [IMG]

Manufacturer: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing

    SUMMARY:
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2005-2011 Toyota Tacoma Pre-Runner and 4x4 vehicles manufactured September 14, 2009, to October 11, 2010. In the affected vehicles, one of the leaf springs may fracture due to stress or corrosion. While being driven, the broken leaf could move out of position and contact surrounding components including the fuel tank, possibly puncturing the tank and causing a fuel leak.
    CONSEQUENCE:
If the fuel tank leaks fuel from being punctured, there is an increased risk of a fire.
    REMEDY:
Toyota will notify owners and dealers will install new rear leaf spring assemblies. The interim notices were sent out in late November 2014. A second notice will be mailed when parts become available. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331.
    NOTES:
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

I asked the service rep about the remedy when I was in last week, he said they will obviously replace the springs:rolleyes:
They also called and asked about the rust proof application. They said my frame passed:pout: They wanted to apply and return in the same day. I said NO WAY!
Aren't they supposed to remove the bed for inspection and application?:notsure:
