"Bout the same here. Where's vacation?
We've gotten a slight reprieve from the wildfire smoke the last couple days. Almost forgot what color the sky was....

You do some night photography right?

    No hurricanes this year?

What tripod do you use? Mine broke - one of the legs is busted. It wasn't fancy so I'm not heart broken but now I'm shopping around for a replacement. I've just kinda gotten into doing more night stuff and want something nice and sturdy.

I used to rock an 8" celestron and a 80mm Orion apo refractor astophotography setup before I got tired of having to travel to setup and take pictures. So I sold it all and got:

I do miss the AP though I never did get very good at it:

Lots of noise (not all dots are stars)

I'd like to stay around 200 or less if possible. I don't use the tripod a lot but it can come in handy at times. I think one reason why I didn't use my current tripod more was weight and difficulty in setting up. I also thought it was a little unstable - the few "good" night shots I get were a little shaky. It was windy so maybe the tripod isn't totally to blame but the star trails were looking more like squiggles than arcs.

Cool shots - you may not be happy with them but I'm impressed

    Thanks!

When I'm not an apartment dweller and buy a place I fully intend on building an observatory with a roll off roof or something. That is if I can't build one on top of the house :p.

    This would be nice:

But I'll probably settle for one of these in the yard.
