Also I'm not a fan of nav and shit like that but this HU is awesome. This is most likely the HU i'm getting for my truck next.

That Pioneer looks good, Don't care for NAV but I'm really wanting a good solid trouble free HU, I'm all about easy to use that works when I need it to . . .

 

I dont think it needs to be an AVIC series, right Cobster?

AVIC has the NAV and BS. My AVH is what he's lookin for I think.

HD radio, back up camera input available, Ipod navigation, etc.. and no NAV

 

You can drop down the 4100NEX. I keep forgetting your stock speakers and what not so the extra options you don't really need.

What do you think is the best system for navigation @Aw9d? I need a good navigation system for work and tired of my Garmin GPS up on my window but the navigation system is the best I've used.

 

Yup the AVH series are awesome. You can go a few years back and they are all the same hardware wise for the most part.

And they last. I've had my AVH-3300BT in 4 cars, and one of those was my CRX that I flipped 3 times on the freeway. They hold up GREAT!

 

Well Sheet I'm Sold, Light Bars ( Grill + Up Top ) and this HU are my next Mods ! !

When it comes to NAV I actually like the way Alpine does it over Pioneer. But Pioneer AVIC has some new maps that should look really good and be useful. I honestly have't seen the maps yet on the newest AVIC's. I'm a huge fan of Pioneer since they have great hardware that lasts.

It always boils down to how much you are willing to spend for the features. Nav add about $200-300 to the cost of a HU.

but yeah.. then that lucky SOB Greekboy got the greatest deal on a HU.. sold it to him for 50 bucks cuz the screen just "stopped working"

he plugs it in.. smacks it around a couple times, and voila.. it works! bastard...

wish I still had that one..

 

There is a reason I haven't updated my HU that I've had for years. I love the older ones and I think the software is a bit snappier because of less features.

But that NEX....

Cost really isn't the issue since it's for work. It needs to work easily like the Garmin GPS does. I know they all can't have every map but man I have tried almost every GPS out there and some of them really suck. There isn't much out there that I could find on how well the built in navigation systems work that's why I ask.

 

I'd suggest to go to a store and check out the Alpine, Kenwood, and Pioneer HU's and see which one works good for you.

As for how well they work, the people I know with AVIC have never bitched about it not working or giving them issues. I know the Alpine guy I did an install for loves his NAV on it. Kenwoods are good from what I read, but never seen the NAV in action.
