This past March I purchased my 2000 Tacoma Pre-Runner. I recently installed a new sound system so I have the factory head unit plus a PA15-TOY interface that I removed. Everything functioned properly before removal and includes interface wiring. Just sitting here in my garage, may be just what you need for a project. $40, shipping included. Yep. http://www.amazon.com/USA-PA15-TOY-Factory-Interface-Vehicles/dp/B000NVCJMS

I just bought a new head unit after agonizing over the various iPod/iPhone interfaces ... I don't consider the factory radio too bad, and nothing ever looks as "right" as factory radio. In the end, I realized I was staring at about $30-$60 just for aux-in, and $100 or more for something like this.

Holy Jeebus, $40 shipped is a steal AND you get a radio in case yours is shot. I'm still tempted but will pass and let someone else get this deal.

I may earn a commission on this sale :)

Yes, that's what "iPod interface" or "iPod adapter" means. iPods came before iPhones and so that's a "shorthand" way of describing what's compatible.

Anything that has the old 30-pin dock port or Lightning port (WITH Lightning-to-dock adapter from Apple, $30) So if you have an iPhone 5 or newer you have to buy this -> http://www.apple.com/shop/product/MD823AM/A/lightning-to-30-pin-adapter

The box connects to the phone's data port to get either a line level or digital audio signal (depending on what the interface box can use) and then routes that through to the head unit's CD changer (or sat radio, if applicable) input.
