It's about damn time! There are companies that do this mod to the existing JK's. Looks sharp! Willys throwback.

Friend of mine works for AEV here in Michigan. This is his company truck he gets to drive with a 6.4l hemi swap. He said the price for one was around 100k.

The Rubicon pickup (assuming it comes in Rubi trim) will look far better than the 3rd gen, have more hp, and be more capable.

The wrangler has Jeeps A-trac equivalent, solid front axle, front locker (and rear) and electronic sway bar disco plus 4:1 Tcase. It also has better approach, departure, and break over angles. And better water fording abilities.

Guess it's a good thing I bought my '15 Tacoma or I would have had a hard time deciding.......

Agreed. I drove a Wrangler for a little over six years. Tough to beat its factory off road capabilities and fun-to-drive factor. However, it was far from practical. Traded for the Tacoma because I needed something that could haul more than one passenger and a gallon of milk (not at the same time). Had a factory 4 door Jeep truck been available at the time I purchased my Tacoma, it certainly would have been in the running.

I agree. The Jeep is really hard to beat on the trail. The new JK is an awesome wheeling machine off the lot. The wife has a 14 Sahara sitting in the driveway. They came a long way. The newer V6 is much better than the original doggy V6 they had in the original JK release. Always eyed the AEV conversion with envy.

It's not going to happen. Every year Jeep releases some bs hint that they're going to start producing a Wrangler-based pickup in the near future. They've been doing it ever since they came out with the Gladiator (JK-based) concept in 2005.

The Wrangler can be a fine daily driver as long as you never need to haul anything. I sold mine once I got a house and as many homeowners know pickup are invaluable.

They have hinted at it for years, yes. However, this isn't a hint, this is confirmed production at Toledo. Google it.

    1. looks are subjective, so irrelevant
    2. yes, it will be a bit more capable off-road, as that's the intention of it's design.
    3. it will be, based on all objective information, far less reliable than a toyota, so i could care less about #2. if jeep ever brought their quality up, i'd seriously consider one, until then no way.

This will be the next Soccer-mommie wagon when the realize they can look even more hip driving a Wrangler pick-up. And just like now, the tops will never be removed.
