Thanks...my buddy did the same thing...Hates the Ram...has been in and out of the shop waaay too much. they still can't get the check engine light to turn off. He needed a fullsize, but doesn't want to feed the Tundra.

Anyone have experience with the Frontier? Obviously they don't carry the Taco's resale value. Resale isn't the most important to me, as I'd like to keep whatever i get until the wheels fall off. Are they really unreliable? My friend has one with 175k, still running strong.

Nothing wrong with new frontiers. Just as good as tacomas in my experience for the average user

That's good to hear. Might be something to check out. I am the average user. Only thing I'm questioning is rear seat space in crew cab. Most reviews say the Frontier has less space than other mid sizers, but yet it's maybe only an inch less in leg room than the Taco. My wife and I have a 1.5yr old daughter. I wonder, regardless of the brand of truck, if space will be an issue for a car seat in any mid size crew cab.

I've been in the rear seats of the frontier crew cab and I do have to say they are not as comfortable as the Tacoma double cab. In the frontier the seatbacks are very upright

The front seats are better than the tacomas as they give more of a truck positioning. I find the ride and interior sound level is better in the Frontier.

I would suggest you take both for a test drive and see what you think. The frontiers are significantly cheaper in cost for what you get. I'm guessing they would have better rebates and be more willing to deal.

Is there a V6 Tacoma in your future?

Thanks for the info. I'll definitely have to test out both.

Negative. Mid size isn't for me... maybe in many years if fuel economy and power goes nuts - and they somehow make a midsize capable of towing north of 7k lbs without a death wish. I would have considered the 2016 Tacoma, prior to spec release, and just modified plans in regards to towing. After spec release = newp.

    Yep
The next platform will also have a solid axle 4x4 truck.
said to happen in 2017 for 2018 mod.

There are pictures floating around. Of what it will look like and not just the prototype or show trucks.

The only benefit to a Frontier is the price. You can get a pretty well-specced Frontier for around $28k.

Pro-4x 6spd manual. Great truck, $20k used with 59,000km. 4 months ago the exact truck brand new in black was $29999 CAD before tax and dealer fees.

IMO that's not the only benefit. The Frontier us better than the Tacoma in some areas ( both quantitative and qualitative) and vise versa.

Take both for a test drive and decide then.

I agree having owned both. I like the boxed frame, tighter steering, quieter cabin, good visibility, aluminum utilitrack system, stock 265/75R16's and correct gearing to turn them, rear discs, cargo light, heated mirrors, side and rear glass defrost.

I don't like the seats as much even if they are more adjustable, the king cab is smaller than my access cab was, the exhaust is tucked up higher but is already quite rusty after the cats, at least it sounds really good.

All in all I prefer the Frontier, First Nissan after many Toyota trucks. The '16 Tacoma fixes many of the issues I had with my 06 from what I hear, pretty much all of the missing features have been added too.

I wouldn't be so bent if what was being offered from the Tacoma at that price point was equivalent to a full size when it comes to the luxury type items. Has anyone checked to see if Lexus is coming out with a pickup?!? Maybe they have one that's everything all of us want
