Hey guys, I'm new. Gonna get my first 2016 Tacoma soon. I'm trying to decide between the Sport and the Off-Road. It seems like you get a lot more with the Off-Road vs the Sport even though they both cost the same. Basic differences I see:

    Sport:
    Hood scoop
    Painted fender flares & bumper
    Air dam

    Off-Road:
    Multi-terrain select
    Crawl control
    Bigger 8.75" locking rear diff
    Bilstein shocks

What I don't get is how can they charge the same for both??? It sure seems like the cost of all the mechanicals in the Off-Road would be thousands more than the cost of two pieces of plastic and some paint on the Sport. Are the people who buy the Sport getting ripped off? I thought the Sport model used to be cheaper than the Off-Road?

That's Toyota's value pricing. Doesn't make much sense to me, but then again they are Japanese..

The sport has sport tuned shocks. Whether or not it compares with the off-road in a would-be price, I have no clue.

The Sport also comes with 17 in wheels. The Off Road comes with 16 in wheels. Probably not a big difference price wise.

Don't forget the fake hood scoop...color matched fender ....flares, side mirrors and rear bumper. It has a little more bling factor and seems to be the more popular model of the two. I would personally buy the TRD OR, as you can always upgrade to the parts offered on the sport....it would be heck of a lot more difficult to the it the other way around.

Some folks do not need whats offered of the OR....thus they would rather spend the money on the aesthetics. Sport has more show less go vs the OR....but looks matter to some people. I would definitely like the offerings on the sport except for the 17 inch wheels and fake scoop.

I just got a quote and the priceing between the two was only $100. Sport being cheaper.

The sport was around 1500 cheaper in 2gen and was 1500 less on the first leaked 2016 pricing sheet. I don't know what happened since then but the sport has risen to meet the OR price. The OR came down 5 dollars from the leak sheet but the sport rose 1495 in price

Where are the model number pricing sheets? I know I saw them. Not the leaked sheet but the printed one? Can't find it. I fired off an email to my dealer to give me some numbers especially ACV trade for my 15 so I know where I stand and if I should sell my truck privately.

OK I found this one but no option prices

    This doesn't jive with this

Most people buy the sport because they like pretty stuff even if non-functional, i.e. the scoop, others buy for the off-road functional goodies. Fact is most trucks never go off the road.

The above scanned/color price sheet includes Destination fee while your link above is minus Destination fee. Should be a $900 difference across the board between the two sheets...

Didn't they even say, guys who offroad prefer manuals...or something to that effect. gawd damnit Toyota! *rolleyes*

They said they were keeping the manual...but mang, they have damn near eliminated it! I see only 3 packages to get it...and one is in the slug of a 4 banger. The next refresh...I am guessing the manual will be gone altogether.
