Everyone in my department has resorted to watching Netflix on their computer just to pass the time.

I'm looking to get into it. It'll lower my gear load for what I take on wheeling trips.

Me too. I'm looking for some people to go with to help introduce me to it.

Closest I've gotten in many years is when I go to the UK.

My buddy James is into it.

I guess the hardest part for me is the upfront cost to rebuy gear that I already have. But smaller.

Yeah that's the hardest part for me too. Although I don't think I'd need a whole lot of expensive ultralight gear. At least not at this point. Only things I don't have are the pack and a stove. Everything else I can think of that I don't already have is stuff I've been looking to add to my gear anyway. So I'd just buy backpacking appropriate gear from the get go. I'm going to try and do a short 2-3 day trip in about 6 weeks or so I think.
