I contacted my dealer, and it appears there is nothing coming to the northwest with JBL. It would have to be special ordered and a 2.5-3 month wait... Anybody else having similar issues? Wanting an auto V6 4x2 TRD Sport DCSB in MGM with premium & tech JBL and tow package.

First I am hearing of it. Just wondering why you are opting for the 2wd vs the 4wd

Not really worth it anyway, always go aftermarket systems.

Got it on my 2012 and have used it exactly 1 time. 3k more for 4x4 is a big jump for something I rarely if ever use.

I would just ask you to do this. Go look at the used Tacoma market and see what the price difference is (same year, same model) for a 2wd vs a 4wd. It may be a lot more than $3k. So, you may be better off with re-sale.

I found this out when shopping for a vehicle for my son. Was looking at pre-owned and came across a Highlander. Was amazed at the difference.

The blue book difference of my 2012 with 4x4 vs 4x2 is $2600. Not worth the investment for me if it adds 3k to the price.

I prefer having a factory installed system over having some punk kid ripping apart my doors and dash.

Then don't have punk kids do the job, have a professional do it.

I have a 2009 TRD Sport with JBL and I put the Pioneer AVH-X5500 head unit and left the JBL speakers Sub and amp and it has just a tad less performance than my Nephews $3500 system he put in his 2011 Shelby Gt500. I get more compliments on how good my system sounds for the $600.00 I paid including the install at Best Buy, and it has all the harnesses and SiriusXM. My Nephews Sub bumps more but my factory speakers are as good as his kickers. And he kept his head unit and replaced amps and speakers and sub. He was pretty pissed but impressed with JBL. Next time he is just doing JBL.

the difference between a non jbl and jbl system is $628 inv and $695 msrp. a decent head unit and speakers will run you at least $700 or more and that's not including install/parts cost.

even if you forgo the head unit, 8 speakers and a good amp to drive them and the sub will get to $700 or more.

Tell you what, I had a 2013 Limited Tacoma with the JBL system & it was the best stock sound I have heard in a truck. Crushed my current Limited Tundra JBL trainwreck. If the 2016 system is anything like the '13, and you want to keep it stock, you will not be disappointed.

Yeah I'm really happy I bought the JBL system (not that I knew it had it at the time, I just saw the truck and said "that one".) It sounds better than any other stock or OEM upgrade I've ever heard.

OP you're gonna have a hard time getting all those upgrades on a 2wd in the NW. Most people in the NW want 4x4. And most people buying all that extra stuff (Sport, extra packages) are gonna opt for 4x4. They allocate models based on demand and the model you want just isn't that popular up there.

I would like the JBL system. If I am reading the charts correct it seems to get the JBL one must also have a moonroof. I have no use for the moonroof and it will take away from headroom

Toyota should make the moonroof a stand alone option.

I'm always worried about this. I had a very bad experience a few years back with a very "high end" shop that apparently did work on Ferraris, Lamborghinis, etc. Yet they still messed up my car pretty bad.

Since that time I make sure to do all the work myself. Yes, I'm not a professional and it takes me many hours to do what probably takes them 15 minutes. But at least it gets done the way I want it to.

Obviously I cannot do any custom work, but replacing a head unit and speakers is pretty straight forward these days and they have adapter plugs and harnesses and kits so that everything fits perfect.

I was very happy to only have to change out the head unit. The factory head unit is detuned if you want to call it that. I was fortunate that my pioneer head unit coupled with the factory JBL worked perfectly together. I love having a graphic EQ. Makes a lot of difference. Unfortunately with the JBL you can't connect separate components to the head unit to independently control the subwoofer. So you can't get real technical. But if you want clear powerful volume and bass, this is the way to go that's cheap and you won't believe how good it sounds. I could go a bit farther and take apart the doors and interior and put in sound deadener to really make it sound good.

I heard the same and was told the same about the long wait on the one I ordered. You can get a MUCH better sound
and deal throwing in an aftermarket sub/amp on your own, it's just not worth it.

Biggest regret was not getting JBL for my 2014. Never even considered it. Only 6-700 more? Dang. My next vehicle will absolutely have a factory upgraded system 16+Tacoma or not.

I like the JBL, but I need the space behind the seat for hauling/hiding my laptop briefcase.
