Congrats, I'm looking at that civic wondering if I built it! There is about a 50% chance I had something to do with that car! Lol. Good luck!

Sweet!!! Then I'll know who to come after if we have problems!!

JK! :D But I WILL be picking your brain for Civic specific advice if ever needed! :)

My last Civ's only nagging problems were that it went through lots of distributors, and the wipers started having problems once the car was ~15-20 years old. Oh yeah, and the driver's seat upholstery had worn away on one side from getting in and out of the car so many times, around when the car was ~20 yrs old. Sunroof had some problems at the end too, but again, not til the car was ~20 years old.

I'd say that's a pretty good track record!! Those things are built right :D Nice work!

Made in Canada lol. That's not bad for a 20 year old car.

Oh boy. You're right!!!!!!!!!!!! Here we go guys, let the great phone debate begin!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

But first, some wheel bearing fun. Going to pick up parts in a few minutes, then either start that project today, or pick back up on the gate. Still deciding.

Maybe we'll decide that one by the time Eric has to go back to work?

I know you don't have a dog in this hunt, Karl, but you can still do massive research on the phone suggestions.

First off, we need to find out if this is going to be an Apple or Android house.

Are you running any Apple electronics or are you PC based?

Scored me a label maker at a garage sale for 50 cents! Even came with a bunch of label refills!

My first label. It works awesome!

And no, I don't work for WM. Another garage sale find.

im out on that stupidity, what a waste of time and money for junk you don't need. I don't have time or money for luxury toys just to have something to entertain yourself with.

this is as smart as any phone needs to be, no games, no internet, no streaming videos or movies to watch, it just receives and makes PHONE CALLS, what a novel idea that is?

Had a wacky car situation ALREADY with the "new" Civic!!!!!!

Brakes were squeaky (!!!) when we went to run a few errands in it yesterday (picked up wheel bearing goodies! :)). The brakes continued to be very noticeably squeaky even after driving it for some time, so we knew it wasn't just the previous night's rainfall making the squeak.

We were not very happy :mad: to hear squeaky brakes 12 hours after buying it, because a big part of why we chose this PARTICULAR car (and went without features like sunroof, bluetooth, etc) was it's squeaky clean history (no pun intended!!) of regular service/oil changes at that exact dealer EVERY SINGLE TIME, and that it was a "Certified Pre Owned Honda" meaning it had to pass a thorough inspection before being sold, plus that it came with some limited warranty coverage because it was "certified." After the seemingly never ending road of auto repairs we've been on the past 10 months, to say that we are good and ready for a commuter car that we basically never have to lift a finger on is DEFINITELY an understatement. Then we get to focus all of our attention on the one we really love!! :)

Called Alberto, our salesman, and told him. He arranged for us to bring it to their service dept right away, and said they'd prioritize us so we didn't have to drop it off (it's a decent length's drive for us to get out there). When we arrived and explained ourselves to an advisor, he took the car back right away. Eric asked if we could come to the tech's service bay to see the brakes once the wheels were off, and he let us. The pads mic'd at ~5-6 the tech said, and to pass the certification they have to mic at 5 minimum. The tech was about to put the pads back on. Disappointed, I asked how much new brake pads actually cost, and mentioned to both the tech and advisor that we'd just paid a small fortune for this car 12 hours ago, and had chosen it because we were given the impression that it would be in excellent condition, particularly when it comes to basics like brake pads. The service advisor then said to the tech, "Go ahead and just put new pads on, and if they (meaning Honda) won't cover it, I will," while giving us a big, very sincere, apologetic smile.  That guy really rocks. :D :D The tech too, because then a bit later..........

The advisor came into the waiting room to give us an update on how much longer it'd be. He said the tech went ahead and resurfaced the rotors while he had things apart anyway, so it'd be a bit more time. :D :D

It definitely wasn't fun to realize we had squeaky brakes 12 hours after buying a certified used Honda, but what an awesome ending to that story. Those guys made things right pretty much immediately and sent us back on our way very happy. I'm still giving them a major thumbs up!! :) No business (or person!) is perfect, but when you own up to your mistakes and do your very best make 'em right - well, that's what counts IMHO.

We're planning to drive it an hour or so out of town today to go for a hike :) and be sure she's driving nicely and problem free. I think Eric's gonna do the wheel bearing on Tuesday morning as long as the rain holds off, then we'll turn back to the gate project midweek. We've been talking about building a garage back there more, and are kinda get excited about the idea. It would DEFINITELY make it easier to keep lovemytacolots going stronger for longer!!! :)

    At last the suspense ends!

Nice that you found a good dealer, there are good dealers. A friend of mine once bought a truck with a bad engine and the dealer replaced it.

not surprising at all, I bought a car for my niece and they were supposed to put new brakes and rotors on it as part of the deal but when she came home with it the brakes squeaked and I could see they put new pads but left the old grooved up rotors on it so I went back and had to get the dealership manager out there to make the service dept replace the rotors, they had no choice because I had them put it in writing on the purchase agreement that new pads and rotors would be installed.
