Do I purchase axle shim before installing Dakar leaf ?

Ive seen that video and did get the 2 rear ujoints equal with 3 degree shims but i still had vibes. The take off shudder never went away. So it my be bacause the 3 degree shims were too much. Not sure.

 

I may try 2 degree or 2.5 degree shims.

 

just ordered 2.5 degree shims to try out. should be here by Friday, hopefully.
hope it works and I can rid my truck of vibes.

 

Well the 2.5° shims are in and i ldft the 3/8" CB drop spacer in, and most all my vibes are gone.
Still have a slight take off shudder. I can hardly feel.
Im stoked, finally got my vibes under control

 

With my canopy, i have about 1.5" rake. Front has 885's and 1/4" top spacer. It sits at 23" front and 24.5" rear. Its alittle much but not bad. It kinda looks good with the canopy and having alittle rake.

 

I had the OME with Dakars done last week and came back with the Taco lean on both front an rear on drivers side - shims are in and mine goes back on Tuesday to have em installed.

 

You do the drivers side trim packer and were your Dakars a mixed +/- set ?

 

Not sure what a mixed set is - i had the Dakars with the extra leaf installed.I assume its the Packers that are going in since its an ome kit

 

The 5mm trim packer goes on the front drivers side coil

Dakars can come as + , 0 , or - , 0 is on spec , + or - are above and below spec respectively . If you get a mixed set , putting the higher spec leaf pack on the drivers side helps combat Taco Lean

EDIT : this info is assuming you have a 2nd Gen

 

I guess I assume that theyre both 0s since it leaned. Im not super knowledgeable on suspensions so I left it to the best offroad shop in town

 

Point is, without knowing it would make any difference , they could have put the higher spec pack on the passenger side if you do in fact have a mixed set which would make the lean worse

Just so you guys know, both my Leaf packs are + and I had the Taco lean. About 5/8" and never went away.
Until yesterday when I took out the top overloads on both sides, and then installed a 1/2" spacer on the driver's side leaf pack. No more taco lean and now my rake isn't as bad as before. It brought it down about 1/2".

Shims are still in and I took out the CB drop spacer and put in about 1/8"-3/16" spacer to get my drive line angles right.
haven't test drove yet but hoping my vibes are still gone.

 

Some people get lean , some people don't

 

Had the spacers installed earlier this week - no more lean, looks way better!

 

I just rescently put me 2nd overload back in to hrlp with sag when loaded. And my vibes are back. Took out the 2.5 degree shims and put in 3 degree. Nope, still got vibes. Tryed to drop my carrier bearing from 0 to 5/8" sesmed like 1/2" help some, but still there.
Geuss its time for a 1 piece driveline.

 

Where are you guys getting your shims? I have the cb drop with the dakars and still get a slight vibration between 30-45mph. It's much worse without the cb drop though.
