rear brake problem ??

i purchased a brand new 06 acces cab 4x4 v6 tacoma with an automatic trans, truck now has around 3300 miles on it and the rear brakes squeel at low speeds or backing up, the brakes also seem to apply harder in the back as the truck slows down plus it seems like the brakes are on the moment you let off the gas even though the pedal has not been touched as the speedo shows it slowing down quickly on its own..mpg has gone from around 17 in the city to 14-15..i inspected the rear pads and looked for anything out of the ordinary and found nothing...any clues ???

If my truck (with 4,200 miles) is not driven for a few days then it would squeal on the first back up and disappears thereafter. Remove the drum and inspect for excessive brake dust and blow it off with high pressure air. If it continues, you could consider cutting groves (at a 45 degree angle) on your brake shoes.

 

are your wheels and suspension compelety stock? and you might just need to reset your ebrake it could be to tight i have had this happen in other cars but never mt truck

 

truck is completly stock..i have removed the drums, they were tight, cleaned all the brake dust out (there was quit a bit in there) sprayed down with brake clean and put back together..seemed to be o.k. at first but then came back..isnt the e-brake adjustment automatic and if i loosen it wont it just tighten itself back up ??

 

no not actually the e-brake will wear down after a while then you would need to tighten it back but in your case yours might be to tight and needed to be loosened

 

i have the same problem with my truck 4x4 reg cab 4cyl 5-speed i took it to the dealership and said it was ok it is just a lite coat of rust that gets on it after it got wet or humid outside,
