so I picked up my truck after a frame swap 1.5 weeks ago.
Battery died after I got it home, charged it up & it's fine. They must have drained while working on it.
Went to drive up my hill in 4wd,& all I get is a blinking light.
    Worked fine before the swap.
Tried it in reverse,4 lo,no go.
Any ideas on what I could try at home to fix?

Installed Cooper At/3's (265/70R16) and ProComp 7089 Rims. Tinted front windows. Did the Fog Light Anytime mod. Did the tailgate mod. Added running boards. Adding sound Deadening from RAAMaudio. Replacing stock speakers with Polk Audio DB6501's.
Any loose wires hanging underneath? They may have forgotten to plug something back in.

Checked plug @ front dif. All looks connected.
Won't even go into 4 high.
I'm being told by dealer that the 4wd actuator "just goes" on these trucks.
I'm going to try tapping on the actuator with a brass hammer.

Bullshit. Tell them you used it the day before it went in for frame swap and worked just fine. Complain until they fix it for free.

Not in any gear would be considered N in a manual. I had an auto so I may be incorrect for a manual 4lo procedure

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
I see, your problem is slightly different. I had nothing not even blinking light. in your case it sounds like transfer case is kicking in just not finishing.
Start at the front actuator (front diff ADD). Unbolt that thing and check if it moves when you switch to 4HI
Toyota in their infinite wisdom did not solder electrical motor that locks front, so maybe after they dropped front diff on the floor connection is broken.

Being a mechanic (not auto), I will say that a mechanical failure isn't out of the realm of possibilities.

However, sending it home and saying all is well isn't acceptable.

don't be a dick when you talk to them, but be firm. Preferably in person with a service manager, rather than over the phone and with a service writer. Don't expect any pity for the battery since its been almost 2 weeks, but do mention it.
