    this sucks.

my dog had the trifecta. we had his teeth cleaned a few weeks ago..being a 16 year old dog they were careful, but "HARRY" didnt bounce back that quickly. we nursed him. he did okay, then trifecta time. diarrhea, vomiting..and the dreaded, stopped eating and drinking.

3 subsequent vet visits..two of them to the ER, they found massive lumps on his pancreas. i did the hardest thing and tapped out for him.
my wife is out of town and we made the decision together via speaker phone with the vet. i feel so guilty that i couldnt be with him at the end. we just put a cat down recently and that went horribly wrong (in my arms)..long story i cannot repeat. my vet quickly took care of everything.

when my wife adopted him he was 11. i was kinda pissed. dog was older, kinda abused, and he hated me. he peed all over the the house from separation anxiety. first day, he bit me when i was spreading blood-meal fertilizer on my garden. while my wife instantly loved him, harry and i took some time. i know when it changed. we took him camping. harry was a runner. camping we kept him on a leash. we hiked part of the pacific crest trail system. coming back to camp, Harry got exhausted. tiny 11-year old legs. i scooped him up and carried his fat-ass for miles. on my breaks, he would just stand next to me waiting for me to pick him up again. we didnt need the leash after that. and after that trip, we became friend. close friends. i would take him hiking to hang game cameras. i always had to carry him out. haha..the fireman carry was our friend.

friday my wife comes home and we will put all the dog gear into the donation pile.

harry was a fun dog. sorry his previous owners didnt see it on kept bouncing him around. and i am so glad my wife was so strong to put up with my constant complaining at the beginning.

sorry, typing this out makes me feel better. dont want to bum out anyone.

    Harry

    Workin' on it....
It is a bummer but animals bring so much into our lives I can't imagine not having any. They each leave their mark.

Sorry for your loss. They do have a way of getting into our hearts and it creates a hole when they pass on.

We lost two dogs three years ago. They were my wife's and mine when she and I were dating. We gave them long happy lives. We have another wonderful dog now, after waiting a year. Don't let your grief spoil another dog's chance to live in a loving home and help you heal. Sorry for your loss. --Harold
