Here's my 1980 Honda Trail 70. Not much of a story here other than regrets were had after getting rid of the old 1973 model, so I got another one. I now have a 1970 CT70 (blue), 1980 CT70 (red), and a 1974 CT90 (yellow). I decided to put a Lifan 125cc engine in the '80 model because the newer models aren't worth as much as the older ones, and I wanted to mod something other than my truck for once!

Here is the current line-up. We have an older Z50 as well, but I am not sure what year it is, and it wasn't as easy to get to for the glamour photo.

    20150802_143910_zpsy7k9sbqz_1549838f34456ec6aa089782e46f368900f7fd75.jpg

The red 1980 bike had 807 miles when I did the engine swap. I took it from the original 70cc 3-speed auto-clutch to a 125cc full manual 4-speed. I installed a new wiring harness in order to maintain the 6 volt system so that I wouldn't have to buy a new battery and light bulbs. The increase in torque is awesome! Eventually, I want to get a new exhaust because the original one is all rusted out and sounds like trash. New suspension would be nice too.

Here is a video of me riding it around and catching some air on the stock engine. I want to go at least 50 miles on the new engine before I really push it.

Here are various photos of the process of the swap. Not too much to show...

I had one of these things as a kid, exactly like the red one, as did one of my friend. Best times I had growing up was riding it around my friends camp and back roads! Must say you have a nice little collection going on, props!

Looking to get more top end power and a little less low end power. I am thinking to go up a tooth in the front sprocket and down 2 teeth in the rear sprocket. Also found some engine information to save for later

Pretty sweet man. These are what I learned to ride motorcycles on.

Looking to get another one or maybe a trail 90 for a campground romper and poop spot finder when I'm out and about.

Feel free to point me in the right direction if you know of anyone getting rid of one.

By the way, how much do you know about those trail 90's when I'm going to look at em. Any specifics?

I don't know as much about the 90's, but I'd say that if it runs and rides without smoking and has no (or limited rust) you should get it. These things are just so cool and they keep going up in value

I'll have to take it for a spin I guess and be sure the little thing will get my big ass up a hill.

My grandfather bought one for my brother and I brand new back in the mid 70's. It was quite a step up from the indian 50 my buddy let us borrow all the time.
I'll have to see if I can dig up a pic. Great bikes.

    Blue, exactly like that one.

My older bro got one in the early 70's, maybe late 60's even? His was blue, the neighbors boy got the red/maroon one. We rode that fucker a million miles it seemed. Then, our Dad bought me a 1968 Yamaha mini Enduro 60cc. That thing was a beast!!! Then my brother got a 125cc Enduro. He's 59 and still races senior cross country and Hare and Hounds. I just turned 54 and still ride. Mostly my supermoto, but still have a KTM 300 EXC I like to blast the woods with.

Actually, me neither. But I fell ass backwards in to what was a very good deal. I then went ape-shit crazy and tore down a perfect engine (7,000 miles) and dropped in a big bore 440cc (Cylinder Works) kit, Hot Cams stage II cam set, Yoshi Ti TRC full exhaust, brand spanking new Mikuni 39mm flat slide carburetor, had the head freshened up with new valves/springs and lord knows what else. Anyways, the dyno claims 46-47 bhp. It's a blast to ride around town and embarrass Harley's on!!!
