We will see how that turns out. Mitsubishi targeted youngsters a while back with their lancer/eclipse/etc. Many defaulted on their loans. Then it went to marketing for old people wanting to live young again.

BTW man the truck looks pretty awesome. Almost tempted to buy but the grill and gas mileage are the only things holding me back.

All buyers are either young or wish they were young; marketing to the youthful is a can't-miss strategy.

Re: the ad: If actual Tacoma owners used their vehicles like that regularly, insurance premiums would be through the roof. Be glad most owners are actually middle-aged women using them to commute solo to the office.

I'm a 28 year old high school teacher. I can afford a new Tacoma

Actually, I am sure a few of my students will be getting 2016 Tacomas for Christmas.... we are in a nice area. Most students drive much nicer cars than I do

I have grown old, but I haven't grown up.:D It is just my toys get more expensive.

I do not wish to be "young" again. Retirement is to much fun. Being "paid" to do what I want to do. When the newness of the 2016's slows down and the dealers have them sitting on the lots, I will purchase one.

I doubt that the sales of this truck is ever going to slow down.

As long as banks still offer loans to the financially unstable youth, you're out of luck.

Don't expect another big marketing for the Tacoma for the next 4 or 5 years you say...

I am talking about 3-4 years down the road when they default on their loans. It def works marketing wise but like I said before mitsubishi did this with what a 30k eclipse and that backfired for them because many defaulted on their loans. Maybe it was geared more for 21 year olds but still. No down payment on a 40k truck is like 800 a month. Plus toyota rarely offers 0% on a tacoma.

Im 28 btw. Bought my truck off the lot at 25, 31k with no down at 2.9% financing. I could easily afford it then. I can still easily afford it but its put me further away from buying a house. Granted I live in SD where house prices are ridiculous.

I don't know why you keep saying a $40k truck...that's a pretty loaded Tacoma, let alone a limited. They start at around $24k, trucks have options you know..

Someone said 40k so I stuck with it. But after loan interest you could say its in the range of 32-37k for the standard DC prerunner/4x4.

Yeah but those are loaded tacomas/dealerships that price whore. The guy said its geared towards 21 year olds who will end up defaulting on a $40k truck...my point is chances are 21 year olds aren't going to be coping up limiteds.

The models shown in the first advertisement were TRD and Limited. While it may have been a slight exaggeration on my part, $40k seems to be what members are paying out the door for those models.
