Just crossed 5000 miles on my brand new Tacoma TRD Off-Road. Bone stock truck, been babied every day. I changed the oil with M1 5W-30 at 2000mi for the hell of it. Today I changed the oil again and noticed that there is some yellow slime/sludge inside the oil fill cap. Take a look at the pic below. Normal or not?

99.9% of my trips are very short and I don't have that crap under my cap. I'm not saying you have an issue/problem....

You have changed your oil twice with 5k on the clock??

Seems...excessive. This is with synthetic oil?

If I bought a brand new truck I'd probably be the same way though. :spy:

M1 syn, yes. Figured it wouldn't hurt to change the oil on a brand new engine after a couple thousand, and then at the regular interval thereafter forever.

I average about 60 miles a week stop and go around town and live in a humid climate and never seen yellow snot in the oil cap like that. Check your dip stick and the condition of your coolant .

Both my 2006 & 2013 v6 have done that. M1 synthetic in Vermont short commute.
I think back in 2007 I made a similar thread asking the same question.. @chris4x4 told me it was OK & he is God :)

Completely normal. I drive probably 5~ish miles each day, the same gunk gets up there. Really wish I had more reasons to go drive it.

I live 4 blocks from work, if I just drive there and back for a week or two my cap looks just like that.

This is normal, I get the same gook under the oil cap of my John Deere Gator, short trips where engine does not have a chance to get up to operating temp.
