ABS light coming on intermittently. Toyota dealer wants over 2000 for ABS pump/ecu installed. Decided to ignore the light but one of the front brakes has grabbed a couple times and it was scary. Any advice would be appreciated.

Afraid I can't help but I'm subscribed. One of my 3.4's intermittently has the ABS on. The other one has it on permanently. The latter was because of a faulty sensor reinstall by the previous owner but I haven't tried to fix it. I'm clueless about the former.

Thanks for the advice. This is over my head but may enlist one of my shade tree buddies to take a look at it. I could do a swap if I can find a unit at a salvage yard. Thanks again

Quick fix would be to pull the smaller ABS fuse (ABS2 fuse in the engine bay fuse block). This will disable the ABS system completely. Note that the ABS dash warning light will be permanently on. I ran my truck like this for 2+ years before re-plumbing the brake lines to remove the ABS system completely. I did pull the instrument cluster and removed the ABS warning bulb though just so I wouldn't have to see it every time I drove haha.

This looks like the way to go, I can put up with the light for awhile until I can locate a used controller.
