Got quoted almost 600 dollars for install from local offroad shop. And then 400 from another mechanic. Seems ridiculously high to me. What do y'all think? I'm prolly just gonna do it myself if that's what it costs.

I did mine on my 09 and it was easy. would have been a bit easier if I had a friend help, but doable by yourself.

ya. I've watched a couple how to videos and it is by no means difficult. Convenience was on my mind when I called for quotes. Think I will do it myself. 500 bucks can buy me and a buddy quite a few beers and whatever tools and time we need to get it done at home.

A few OE parts from fancy trucks
    $75 per hour.

This isn't something in any mechanics flat rate book, so if they've not done one before, they are guessing at time. A body shop might give you a better answer, 'cause removal of the OE stuff is part of the deal as well.

For you DYI types, how many hours did it take you, removal and install, any special tools required? Extra bodies? etc. Give the guy some idea what he's looking at?
