GMC and Chevrolet are mechanically identical

I looked at the twins when buying. You can't find many of them at dealers either. At least not up here in Canada. I was told a wait for one of them would be a min of 6 months if ordered. And the Tacoma is cheaper, and comes with more options when you line up the packages. Plus it's a Toyota and it will last longer than 200,000 kms unlike gmc or chev

I work on them on a daily basis. I'm a GM tech, all franchises. They are identical

It takes you two seconds to confirm this by the multiple sources online who have already said this same price.

I'm saying it's much more like a up scale Version like a Cadillac GMC have always been higher because of the name.

So are they better than a Tacoma never drove a new Colorado.would you say the Colorado is reliable or not. I like both trucks but if I went to work in a Chevy I would have to park far from the plant. Toyota wants is driving Toyotas.

    Nope.

As others have mentioned, the frame and suspension are the same. The whole "professional grade" marketing tag line is just that - marketing.

The main differences are appearance - different grills, different interior. One mechanical difference is that you can get what GM calls "auto 4WD" on the Canyon. I haven't been able to determine the details of this system, but I assume it has some sort of center differential. In contrast, the Colorado has a simple part-time 4wd system.

Yes, really. The Colorado and Canyon frames and parts are all the same. The main differences are the grill and interior trim.

I ordered one last week. Should be here in 6 weeks... the option of the Duramax is 3,700.00. But when you combine it with everything else that I ordered, it comes down some...

And the price was the same as the Toyota Tacoma Off-Road that I was looking to buy. Both nicely equiped at around 40K. So those saying that one is more expensive than the other, must be comparing different trim levels... At the end, it was the diesel that pulled me over to GMC... I was dead set on the Tacoma Off-Road before I saw that I could get a mid-size truck with a Diesel... may the gods have mercy on me...

    Here is what I selected:

2016 GMC Canyon Crew Cab Pickup - Short Bed, Four Wheel Drive, Crew Cab Short Box 4-Wheel Drive SLE
    Exterior: Cyber Gray Metallic
Interior: Jet Black/Jet Black Cloth with Cobalt Red Accents
    Package: All-Terrain Package
    Package: SLE Convenience Package
    Mechanical: 2.8L Duramax® Turbo-Diesel I-4 engine
    Mechanical: Exhaust brake
    Mechanical: Integrated trailer brake controller
    Mechanical: Trailering Package
    Exterior: Splash guards, molded black
    Exterior: Spray-on Bedliner, Black
    Interior: All-weather floor mats
Entertainment: AM/FM/ SiriusXM®1 stereo with 8" Diagonal Color Touch Screen, Navigation and IntelliLink®2
    Entertainment: Bose® premium 7-speaker system

And I am not going to argue long-term reliability, trade-in value, etc... I know... I am going into GMC ownership with eyes wide open.

Dude, you bought a beautiful truck. A lot of reliability is how you treat it. One thing not many mention in taco world is that it feels pretty good to be driving an America truck. Good luck with it.

@wachuko Good for you.. If I was getting one of the twins, it'd be the GMC as well. Post pics when you get it. I really wouldn't have thought you could get he deezel for less than 40K.. Hope you like and enjoy it. When it's all said and done, we all work hard for our money so you should spend it how it best suits you.. Congrats..
