Back Up Light Bar

Has anyone fabricated anything to enhance the back up power of the lights? Use a thin light bar or the smaller square lights?

 

The reverse lights are useless especially with tinted windows or the camera at night. Lots of people have added lights.

 

Are you willing to cut into your bumper? I have seen members mount flush mount Rigid Industries in there.

 

I have 55W halogen lights but I am going with something like sixtytooze soon

 

which pods are those?/where get them from?

I live in Canada. So I searched Amazon.ca

Imagine an LED that sells for $23 USD on the US site / and $60 CAD in my home country. It doesn't make sense.

I can get two from fleabay for $55 CAD from China with free shipping.

WTF?

 

Since the nights out here in the country are darker than the inside of snakes butt in a wagon rut at night, I ordered lights like sixtytooze. Nice 7" slim/low profile floods, 18 watts each side. I'm going to wire them up on a three way toggle: on with reverse lights/off/independently on anytime. We'll see if that helps when I'm out back hooking up trailers.

I used to have these, but I tore one off and the other one got water inside and turned yellow so I took it off. This winter I'm gonna do the flush mount Duallys.

 

I hear ya on the hazards of below bumper mounting, but I have this...



... so the Avid bars may be in the way of flush mounts.

 

How bright are you trying to go OP? If you're looking to just enhance the power of your existing back up lights and do it on the cheap, you could throw in some GY6.35 bulbs in there. I have some 35w (50w equivalent) GY6.35 bulbs in my reverse lights and they are significantly brighter than the stock bulbs.

 

Can either one of you guys describe how you wired these lights in? Are you pulling power from the battery, and do they only come on when you engage reverse?

 

Looks like that wire is just hanging there waiting to get ripped off. But the lights look nice.

 

Where will you get your 3 way switch? Been looking for one.
