I just found this thread. What are the prices now for stage 2 6.5 or 6x9 components?

The regular prices did not change on those and you can find them listed in my first post in this thread.

I haven't seen any install updates, so here is mine.

First, a question though. Marv, what is the recommended crossover setting for the tweeters in a Tacoma? 0 or -3? I initially set mine at 0 since, I had my Focals set at -2, and they were bright, but the Clarius were not supposed to be that bright. After install at 0, they might still be a bit bright, but given that the HAT mid-bass is so much better than the Focal's, I'm not sure if -3 would be too much cut.

As for comparison, I replaced my set of 13 year-old mid-level Focal's with the Clarius. Just a front door replacement though, as my rear door speakers are just a cheaper set of Pioneer 2-ways that are run off the HU, but are normally turned way down or off. The HAT's are powered by 65W of power. Amp is capable of 80W, but I have tuned them down to 65 in order to better balance up with my sub and sub power. 80W to mains will minimize my sub output.

Focal's in the Tacoma have always been too bright, but I lived with it for quite awhile. After installing the Clarius comps, I noticed that they are not as bright, but brighter then I thought they would be, reference question on crossover setting above. The mid-bass though is no comparison with the Focal's. The Clarius mid-bass is amazingly better. I was not expecting it to be that much better in comparison to the Focals, but it certainly is.

Overall, great upgrade, and the group buy is much appreciated.

My mom is in rehab now and I should have time for tuning by phone in the evenings and on the weekends again so let me know when a good time is for you and we'll get you tuned up! (same goes for anyone else who would like me to guide them through my tuning steps once you break the speakers in for a while!)

Marv, I don't need to waste your time on a tuning session. I know, and have done the amp power tuning. I was just looking for some input on if components in the stock Tacoma locations should start with the 0 or -3 setting on the crossover.

I find it is easier hear "too much" than "not enough" so I start out at the highest and come down to where it blends best!

I've been thinking of doing a 3 way setup for the front and was wondering if could add any input as far as sound quality compared to a regular component setup.

What's your thoughts of mounting a 3" speaker in the factory tweeter location and do you make a mount for that?

I'm in need of an upgrade and have been looking at HAT products for a couple years now, just haven't been able to hear any in person.

If I was to go with the stage 4 6.5 front and stage 2 in rear, what would your amp recommendations be? I need to retire my Kenwood I'm using!

    Thanks Mr. Marv

    Hey Dustin!
You would have to do some metal as well as door panel cutting in order to fit a 3" in the factory speaker location. You would also need a good processor along with the experience to use it. Dog is barking so I'll be back in a minute after I see what's up out front!

Alright, that rules out the 3 way setup then. I'm looking for sound quality and clarity at medium to high volume at times.

What combination do you think will get me to where I want to be?
