So I recently bought a 2015 Tacoma from Toyota with 12k miles. Came with a 3" OME lift and 285 65 18 tires. When I bought the truck it had a bad wobble in the steering wheel which ended up being the tires. The dealership installed new Nitto grapplers M/T same size. The truck also had very bad bump steer and and pulled to the left. So they ended up aligning it at the dealership. They couldn't fix it. So then sent the truck off to replace the OME lift with a 3/2 readylift hoping it would fix the bump steer and align the truck properly. The truck now has the 3/2 ready lift with factory trd struts installed and they said the truck was 90% better. When I got the truck back today it now seems to drive worse. The trucks ride quality is a lot worse, it still pulls to the left and still has bumpsteer. The bumpsteer may have improved just a touch but still bad. Does anyone have any suggestions or know what might be the cause? Dealer says the trucks alignment is spot on. Tires balanced put perfect. Still has factory UCA'S but readylift claim to fame is factory ride quality.

This is the trucks setup with the 3" OME lift. No current pictures of the 3/2 readylift but still looks the same

First have them put back the OME lift
Second loosen all the front/rear lugnuts while the truck is on the lift and retighten them by hand evenly to seat the wheel evenly on the hub, then use a tool/torque wrench to finish.(#1cause of vibration or wobble)
Third have the truck aligned with 2.3-3 degrees positive caster

The left pull is your UCAs because the caster is out of spec and never will be in spec with a lift unless you upgrade to aftermarket. And spacers ride like sh*t. The OME lift is a good lift, I'd put that back on. New UCAs would have been the answer and likely still are.

Yeah......OME is x10 better and cost a lot more. I would put OME back and buy aftermarket UCAs. Boom, fixed!

Not sure I understand why guys go crazy adding mods and alter suspensions/exhausts or whatever, and then are confounded when the truck runs like crap. I'm sure I'm in the minority when I say this but my thought is to keep it stock or buy a bigger more powerful truck.

you sound like my dad…but i like listening to my uncles, build/modify it to what you need.

you may not understand it, but look all over this site and it can give you a better understanding. C'mon, just look at how others on this site use their truck. And then when it runs/rides like crap, you can find info on a remedy.

but it is pretty ridiculous to have a truck without using it as a truck but as a status symbol.

And buying a bigger more powerful truck isnt always the most viable option.

I still have the OME lift. I figured I would let them try to put a new lift on and see if it fixed it. I didn't know much about the OME lift. For all I knew if could have been messed up and the dealer was telling me it was riding like it was because of a defect with the lift.

You can always seek advice from a dedicated off-road shop. They'll sort that out for you real quick. I Installed my OME's myself and had no issues. Good luck.

Like others have said, get some aftermarket UCA's designed for lifts and have them put the OME back on. With the UCA's they will be able to get your caster into spec and you'll be back in business.

Give the OP a break. He said he bought it this way. He did not install the lift so who mows what the previous owner did to it. Sounds like the previous owner jacked it up and traded it in.

Get the dealer to fix it right, with the OME lift or have them take it back. My .02. Either way I wish you the best.

Alot of boring stock truck haters in here. I for one can tell you my truck rides as good as it did stock and looks 100 times better, I get compliments every day. Whats the point in having a vehicle that is the same as everyone else, your supposed to make it unique to you, thats why theres such a huge aftermarket sector. Sure you can do a cheap lift and it will ride like crap but if you do it right its the same if not better than stock. Bunch of old farts in here.

Lift it right and the OP will have no problems. Roll back to the OME lift, the readylift is not only crap but you will bend a strut eventually if you hit a curb hard enough to cycle the suspension fully up. Put on some new good aftermarket UCA's because running the full 3" without aftermarket UCA's is causing your poor alignment and handling. Do those two things and report back. If the problem persists it's likely something totally unrelated to the lift at that point.

BTW Readylift advertises that they are known for a factory feel on their lift systems. Much like McDonald advertises that their food is locally sourced and healthy. The only reason the Readylift feels close to factory is because top hat strut spacers don't over compress the spring like some other cheap lifts do. Instead they can cause poor handling when the lift is too much for the stock UCA and damage to the shock should the suspension ever fully cycle upwards due the collapsed length now being to long for the bump stop.

Make sure those wheels are hub centric for Tacoma. If not, get the hub centric rings and install them, you will chase vibration issues without them, at least I did with 2 sets of Moto Metals. Good Luck.
