Did you end up going with the AEM 320 lph pump?

If you can get someone to perform a current ramp they can tell you if its worth swapping now or not. Though if you plan on boosting it wouldn't hurt to do it before hand.

Since the day I bought my truck it ticked/pinged louder then i thought it should, louder then other trucks the same year, toyota basically told me to suck a dick. So i ran with it, then at work we had snap-on at the shop training us on the new scanner(wasn't needed, same as the last one but w/e it came with it) and we used my truck as a demo, which we found my pump was shot, and running slow.

My truck pinged since day 1, pumping 91 fixed most of the issue, the reflashed helped but it still pings randomly

Yes i went with the AEM 320 pump, i figured for 5$ more why not lol.

From what I have been reading, starting 2012 toyota switched from using their Denso pumps to the Delphi pumps which are not as good.
The fact that they went with an in tank fuel filter is just stupid. One batch of bad fuel are your screwed. My sock was clean but the filter was plugged.
The URD kit gets rid of the in tank and adds external.

I want to try the flash but can't. Toyota said my area doesn't get hot enough for the flash to change anything. BUT with our new scanner i can reflash it my self and buy the license from toyota for $20 for 72 hours.

Probably the reason for 90% of these pinging issues. Fix the part. Then think about the tune.

That's what I said lol. I have a shop and hoists so doing the work my self was easy. But even if I didn't I don't know if I would let Toyota throw in another one of their shitty pumps. They want 500$ for the whole unit.
The urd one was like 200 and it's better quality.

The size of the fuel pump from Toyota is stupidly small. I didn't know fuel pumps came that small.
I will take a pic of it vs a standard size ome tommorow lol

Interesting. My 2012 had a bullshit fuel pump as well which left me stranded on the side of the road one night. A huge fiasco. Ended up switching it out twice. Once was with a Walbro, which I was less then pleased with due to extended cranking in hot weather, and the second time I went with an AEM 320LPH green top 50-1200 pump and I have had zero issues since. Even with the blower installation as the afterthought.

Either way, I hope you went with AEM. They make great stuff.

I will report, however, that even after the AEM went in and all resumed as operational again I still had pinging. It appears as if though we have multiple issues going on here with both a fueling issue (fuel pump) as well as tuning to cause the pinging.

Coincidentally, the fuel pump I did pull from the truck was a Denso. Which leads me to wonder what the hell is going on and why it's supposedly Delphi manufacturing the pump assembly. Regardless, it is one less thing I have to worry about going bad for a very very long time. Toyota's overall quality is really starting to make me wonder at this point.

My 2012 had a bad power steering pump after 12,000 miles. Luckily it was warrantied.

Here is the pic of the old pump size versus the new one(this isn't a pic of the aem pump I installed, but a pic another pump the same size.)
As you can see the Toyota one on the right is half the size

Looks like the comparison of the 4Runner pump to the Tacoma pump as well.

All in all. I'm very happy I chose to do this my self instead of going through warranty.

The pinging I used to get was mostly when I would go down a big Hill and go I to 3rd and coast. Would sound like a can of marbles that is 100% gone with 87.

The only tick I still have is the idle one(I'm pretty sure it's the vvt as everything with vvt is loud)
