He makes a solid point here. Good acceleration is a safety thing too.

Seems reckless, my commute is right at 160 miles per day (80 miles 1 way) and I very seldom 'hit the floor' with my foot. I am also merging on to what us Houstonians call the Texas autobahn (I-10).

    Intake, exhaust, lift. Typical stuff.
Please stop logically excuse the existence of this thread with acceleration safety concerns. My 1980 Tercel did just fine merging into 70mph traffic with a 1.5L, 80HP motor. I'm sure there are few cars in production today, if any, that are so slow they should be considered a safety hazard.

Well passing or merging speed aside I cannot reconcile in my brain how the truck is slower than its predecessors. I don't need it to be sub 7 seconds but it sure would be nice if it were a bit quicker rather than slower having gained more 42 HP.

Maybe its slower without the ECT mode engaged, my good old butt dyno felt like the truck was more responsive and accelerated faster with ECT mode on. Granted I wasnt doing full throttle acceleration, but I have also never had to floor my Tacoma. Once maybe for passing but I still dont think it was full throttle

In almost 15k miles in Seattle metro commuting in my 2000 Civic 106 HP auto, I have not floored it once. Not being a dumbass is the most important thing out on the streets, not 0-60 times.

Good, because I'm not selling it. It doesn't make one bit of difference if anybody else cares about the acceleration of this truck, as its my concern and my question.

Frankly I don't understand why some people want to come in here and make negative comments and not contribute to the thread, but hey that seems to be the way this forum is.

I find it funny how people think their situation can justify everybody else's wants or needs. Just because something works for you doesn't mean it works for somebody else.

And I'll put needs to the side for now, frankly I just love the feel of acceleration. I find it exhilarating, but there is a time and place for it. In my 100 mile commute there are plenty of areas that are safe enough for me to put my foot through the floor and it doesn't put anybody at risk.

So, when is an actual owner going to be able to report on a real world 0 to 60 time? Perhaps if I still go through with my purchase, which I likely will, I'll have to be the first.

Get off the road gramps if you think impeding traffic is a safe thing to do.

I now live in a little town in nebraska but even living in Georgia driving through Atlanta for 3 years (~21000 miles) I never had the need to floor my truck and mines slower than the new one. I'm curious the new 0-60 sure but nothing other than it'd be fun to have a quick truck

Needs vs wants. Sure, i could drive to work without having to mash the go pedal 95% of the time, but its more fun when i do mash it.
