Testing out some stuff on the GP. Everyone can watch me f- up a turn at 4:15 :anonymous: Came in a little hot. Probably could have leaned some more but still getting comfortable with increasing lean angle.

Gave the bike a full detail this evening. Washed the body, waxed the tank, and detailed the wheels and also underneath some of the fairings. Also cleaned and lubed the chain and corrected tire pressure.

Also noticed my chain is once again too loose. I don't think it is right that it is getting out of spec not even 200 miles since I did the last adjustment. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or what.

K&N filter and Yoshimura steering stem installed. Filter did come with sealing grease for the record.

Checked tire pressure and cleaned/lubed chain. Also checked chain slack, and I'm sitting at about 1.25'' right now. Outer limit of slack is 1.2'' per owner's manual so I may try and tighten it up again in the next few days. If it continues getting loose in too short a period, I will replace the chain.

Also ticked over 10,000 miles on the way back from the firehouse this morning! :woot: Realized I just passed three months of ownership as well.

Ordered UCLEAR HD wired speakers for when I want to listen to music while riding.

Not ready to shell out $160+ for Sena-type Bluetooth stuff since I do not need the function of Bluetooth talking, microphone, etc. Just want to be able to listen to music.

I wanted a Yoshimura for mine but it's not worth it to dump another $350+ into the bike...plus a lawnmower with a nice exhaust still sounds like a lawnmower ;)

Thanks Corey. They are great bikes for beginners I think. It forgives me when I make newbie mistakes.

Corrected tire pressure and adjusted chain slack. I set it to about 0.75''-0.8'' (0.8''-1.2'' is OEM specs), so we will see if it gets loose fast again.

If it does get too loose in too short a period, I will look into getting a new chain. Don't want this one snapping on me.

Agreed. I had a 250r before buying my Ducati 848. Definitely was an awesome learning bike and I got amazing gas mileage. I just wanted something bigger that didn't make me as nervous on the highways haha

I was getting around 57-60MPG when I first started riding but in the last couple weeks, I have been wringing the bike out and I am getting closer to 45-55  ;) Still much better than my truck though...I only put about $11 of gas in when I fuel up. Plus it only takes like two minutes from the time I pull into the gas station to leaving :)

Tried out something since I was bored. Plasti-dipped the inside of my windscreen so it appears glossy on the front. What do you guys think? I am on the fence right now.

Ordered a Schampa Warmskin Balaclava so my face doesn't freeze off as the temperatures drop. I don't want to mess with any of the hassle with winterizing so I'm going to ride as much as I can this winter.

Gonna try out some nice snow gloves I have first instead of buying separate winter motorcycle-specific gloves. Also gonna see if I have some leggings around that I can wear under my riding jeans.

What is with everyone's need to be on the phone while driving? I seriously think the majority of people treat driving as a secondary task now because they get bored or something, and feel the need to just play on their phone instead of realizing they're operating a ton or more of metal at 60 mph.

I almost got merged into yesterday because some Indian guy started to change lanes while staring at his phone and couldn't be bothered to take the goddamn half second to check where he's merging. I laid on my dinky little horn and the look of utter and complete surprise he had when he finally saw me and jerked back into his lane was fucking infuriating. I've had some close calls in the short time I've been riding but this incident just pissed me off so much because there was another moron in the left lane when this happened who was ALSO fucking playing on his phone and weaving around in his lane...it's just so frustrating to think that if one of these idiots were to just keep merging and knock me off the bike, I could be thrown under or into the other car whose driver wasn't paying attention. I usually pick my lane choice and position better, but this was after getting out of an intersection in rush hour and everyone was weaving around like ants.

    Rant over

Life changes when you realize how vulnerable you are. Hold on to it, you'll be better because if it.

I still ride like an idiot and take more risks than I should, but i've had way to many close calls. Fortunately, I haven't been rear ended. That is what I worry about the most. Did have a guy in a toyota celica lock all four tires and come sliding to a stop inches from my rear tire though.

I also get pulled out in front of at least 2-3 times a day. Doesn't really even phase me anymore....I just pick a line and take it (even if that line is the sidewalk), or brake has fast as I can while checking my mirrors.

Glad you're alright. Ride smart, but have fun.

Also, wait until you have someone that hates motorcycles...intentionally try and kill you. Had a guy on the interstate try and side swipe me at 65mph. He just looked at me and laughed. I pinned the throttle to get away from him and forgot I was on a fucking street legal dirt bike....it has no passing power past 80. So I took the next exit and used side streets to get away from him.

Haven't had the intentional yet, but I was catching up to some guy as I was going to the firehouse and he was in the right lane (four lane divided) but he had 1/3 of his car over into the left lane (where I was coming up), so I gave him a little beep beep, and he tossed his hand up and scoffed at me and kept going. Luckily I was getting off at the next intersection, but it was kind of frustrating and hilarious at the same time thinking "how in the hell am I the asshole in this situation??? You're the one taking up two lanes!"
