I have an m/t now. The wife doesn't want to drive it (recent hand surgery). I've been driving them all my life and need a change on this one.

What are you guys seeing for trade in values? For my truck if it was just a base double cab short bed 4x4 it's worth 27k but with the $4,500 of dealer installed options it's only worth 28k? That doesn't make sense to me. Why is a TRD Sport ($3,475) with towing package ($650) and entune audio plus ($680) only worth a thousand more. Especially considering most of the Toyota Tacomas sold are TRD models...I would think it would be worth a bit more than that

What is your truck? I have a 12 sport, DC SB, m/t, tow, etc., with 29000 miles. Had offers from 22-25,000. But the ones that offered 25 were at msrp on the 16. I just haven't found the right combo yet.

14 Sport DCSB 4x4, AT, Tow, Entune. I plan on getting a few offers and then taking the highest one and seeing if the right dealer will match it. To me it isnt a good deal if they are trying to make it up on your trade in. I had an offer of 28k without them even looking at it and another for 27k, which is what they offered when they thought it was a base model with no options. If theyre willing to offer 27k for a base model, I think 28,500 or 29k is reasonable with 5k in options over base. We shall see

    First Post!

I ordered a DCSB Sport with Manual Transmission through Costco on September 1. They referred me to a dealer about an hour outside of Denver (Fort Collins) because no local dealership was honoring the Costco prices at that time. Pretty painless process, though I have been waiting seven weeks to get the truck - but that's because I ordered exactly what I wanted (Blazing Blue/Manual Trans/Tow package). I think the cost came out to $1,300 below MSRP, which isn't really an amazing cost saving, but it's something considering dealerships want to charge above MSRP on these things.

And it took the haggling out of it, which is really a headache I don't care to have.

Welcome! thanks for sharing your experience, you mentioned that it came out to $1,300 below MSRP, to clarify was that before tax, title & Lic fees?

Yes, that is correct. With all of those fees it was well over MSRP!

Not to be rude, but you can "think" it all you want... but the truck's worth whatever it's worth. Most used cars/trucks with bigger options packages aren't worth *that much more* than those without the packages.

Why this is... well, that's a much longer post and thread, but the reality is that trade-in or wholesale values just plain work this way. We buy cars with $5,000 worth of options and a few years later those options are only "worth" an extra $1,000 on the trade-in value.

Thats a bummer for me, as I was expecting to base pricing off of invoice and not MSRP. I will have an appt with a participating Costco dealership, but if its the same deal they gave you, I can wait. Might drive to Auburn where they are doing $250 below invoice for Costco members.

I checked it today here in AZ and confirmed with the dealer that Costco Member pricing for the 2016 Tacoma is at Invoice. Invoice includes pricing for all factory / port added options. Also an additional 15% off Retail price of any Dealer installed options (i.e. window tinting, wheels/tires, etc)...

Just like black book has the sr5 valued $125 more than a TRD off road or sport. I've noticed there is a huge variance between the different value sites when it comes to the models of the Tacoma. Some have them all worth very close to the same where others give a decent bump for the nicer models

Wait, really? That's worth me getting a Costco membership. How do you know this? What dealership?

Because I went online to the Costco Auto Program website, entered my membership info, put the truck in the configuration I wanted, the dealer contacted me and he said their price was in fact at Invoice pricing and the Costco website showed invoice prices compared to MSRP and it matched up with the master pricing list stickied in this forum.

Probably spend $100 just in gas driving across state lines. Might be worth even if $500 more just to buy in Cali

I may be mistaken, but I do believe that there is a 75% discount of dealer-installed options, not 15%. I have received this information in e-mails and have confirmed with Costco. Make sure that the dealers are following Costco guidelines and not deviating.

I talked to Doxon (I assume that's the dealer you mean) last week, contacted through Costco, and the price I was quoted was well over invoice.

    Email from Costco says
The vehicle you select may have an "Addendum Sticker" (displayed next to the MSRP/Window Sticker) listing additional dealer-installed items, such as window tinting, VIN etching, pin striping, etc. Costco members receive a 15% discount off the price listed for these items. These items are optional. If you prefer a vehicle without these items and they are not easily removable, please ask your Authorized Contact at the Costco dealership to review your options for acquiring an alternative vehicle, such as a factory order or dealer trade
