One can never have too many light bars.
Also the main advantage disks have over drums isn't stopping power, its the ability to dissipate heat better and prevent brake fade. Both of which aren't an issue for the Tacoma drums unless towing large loads.

For the guy that for some reason wanted cars from the 80s that had discs, my pontiac fiero had disc brakes. Thats 2 decades ago, so even if the majority of cars in the 80s had drums it doesnt make drums better, I mean should we argue that carbs are better than fuel injection too? Or that cassettes are better than cds? Technology progresses. Drums are old tech and almost completely phased out of passenger vehicles. What are you going to say when toyota finally decides to put discs on the tacoma? Also the argument of a aftermarket disc made braking worse is null because it wasnt factory. I would be willing to bet a decent amount that if Toyota designed a disc brake for the tacoma and installed it from the factory that braking would be better than drums.

    Intake, exhaust, lift. Typical stuff.
How about we don't care about how it stops but how well it stops :notsure: If you are into towing/hauling to the level that you NEED disk brakes, chances are you will NEED a bigger truck.

Stop drinking the manufacturer's coolaid. Disk brakes are not always better than drum.

I can't argue with that logic. LOL. Sweetie, when you get less you should pay less.

Sorry I feel like this my fault for saying something about drum brakes but I just dont understand why there isnt more outrage about it, maybe if more people spoke up toyota will add 4 wheel disc brakes sooner than later.

FYI the recommended unbraked trailer limit on the (2nd and 3rd gen) Tacoma is 1000 lbs. Anything heavier than that should have trailer brakes.

Before someone blames drums, the limit is the same for the 2015 Tundra.

You're complaining about a vehicle and you owned a Fiero? Pretty sure a grocery cart is an upgrade from that.

The scores they gave them are numbers without units; they mean nothing.

This, however, means everything. Disc Brakes sucks

Lol it was my first car and it was a fun little ride obviously I have had other vehicles, the point was that in 86 my car had disc brakes and in 2016 the tacoma doesnt.

Lol disc brakes suck but both vehicles use disc brakes as their primary stopping power. Not all brakes are created equal. If the tacoma is stopping better with drums it would stopped even better with well designed discs.

While this is likely true, is the difference worth the additional cost/weight/5 secs of thought? It is sort of like being overly concerned about whether a glass or plastic 20 oz. cup holds 12 oz. of water "better". In all seriousness, it's not worth stressing over in 99% of use cases.

They should redo the comparison with the same VINS at 100k miles. Then again at 160k, if the Colorado isn't in the junk yard yet.

They have gone up significantly in price. The msrp for my 2008 V6 SR5 AC LB was like $27.9
That same truck today is $32.5.... That's quite a jump!

BTW.. Rear drums work just fine for me!

I think over time the prices will moderate with incentives given out by the manufacturer. It was more interesting to note that the Colorado was not broken in and the Taco was not either which is a big difference in overall results.each could have performed better. I noticed after 2-3k miles, there was a substantial improvement in overall performance on new car...unfair test overall....CR puts thousans or so before they test.
