Tracking Vin Number????

I finally got my build sheet with a vin number today,can someone give me an idea where to go to track the progress of my truck? The salesman didn't have a clue!

 

I googled mine .... no profit. We are having a lot of rain due to the hurricane off the east coast so I really don;t want my truck until it passes anyway.....With my luck I will get the call Tomorrow.

 

1. Where are you located?
2. What are the last 6 characters of the VIN?

 

there is no tracking per se like when 4runners are shipped from japan on a ship for 1-2 months. since all "3" series Tacoma's come from Tijuana, Mexico via rail to a regional port.

those coming out of texas will go via rail to a regional port also.

after going via rail they will be off loaded to a truck to be taken the last leg.

during this whole process the only updates you can get is when they arrive/process thru each stage of the delivery process. no update while in transit.

Apparently that detail is esoteric and held closely. I'm not confident that anyone can tell you the status with any accuracy. I received word today that mine "in port" and--per the sales mgr--could arrive at the dealership as early as tomorrow or as late as Wednesday. He said he'd get a notice at some point soon and the truck could "show up" 5 minutes later or 3-4 days later.

 

Boo. That's not a real VIN, just a placeholder. You had my hopes up someone with a DCLB TRD OR had an actual VIN.

 

Have the sales person log into dealer daily and look there - they should be able to get you something like this - if they can't the new car/inventory manager can. You can not. This is what my esales dealer sent me yesterday.

Yea, they are not being updated until they hit port. until then everyone is a mushroom... fed shit and kept in the dark!!!!

 

I have an actual VIN for an DCLB OR+JBL ... last 6 digits 001524

Baja built - see previous dealer daily post ... should have the unicorn next week. Unfortunately I travel for a few days so might not take delivery right away. :-(

Nice to see your estimated and actual build date lined up. My estimated build date was today on a DCLBOR, hopefully hits port soon so I actually know, dealer said the same thing as Sam B, won't really know until its in country.

 

I bought mine on 15 September...the dealer called and had it moved to the front of the delivery line, delivered on 17 September...loving it so far.

It took until 10/1 for the info to show up in dealer daily - we knew 9/26 was the build date. She checked every day, could tell it was built on 9/29 but called me all doing the happy dance on 10/1 when it finally posted that it was moving this direction. I doubt those dated hold but she thinks they usually hit here in Denver pretty quick and says maaaaybe Tuesday. We'll see. Gonna be on a bunch of planes this week for work so my schedule is hit or miss if it does get here. Either way I told her it better not have more than 10 miles on it

 

I'm in SLC, should be pretty quick from port. Hopefully I get a call next week with some updates.

 

OP, what's your build date? It should rest on a Monday, which means your truck will be built that week. Add two weeks for delivery to your dealer, and then add the time it takes them to get it PDI'd (that day or the next depending on delivery time.) All in all, it should be the second week after the build week. Mines getting built the week of November 9th, but with Thanksgiving I don't know if it will be delivered right before or right after the holiday

 

I finally got a VIN...I was wondering if there is someone who is able to log into dealer daily could screen shot what it shows for my truck. VIN # is 002720. It is a DCSB LTD BBP 4X4.

 

someone will need the whole vin to even check it. since 2 different plants are making it, the vin's numbers 1-11 vary wildly.

 

3TMGZ5AN5GM002720.... I just am not really trusting my dealer at the moment... The sales manager says it shows as not even being built yet (even though there is a Vin #) and the guy I am dealing with has told me that it should be in that day (which has been everyday this week)... Any help would be appreciated
