The world is big...and I want to have a good look at it...before it gets dark - John Muir
I got hit with the $60 fee for rotating the tires. Funny thing is that I looked at my wheels which had a good amount of brake dust and just were dirty...and I couldn't find a single print, scuff or any evidence that they removed the lug nuts and rotated the tires. I asked the service advisor and he assured me that they did it (Servco Service on South Street). Must've been some ninja mechanic to take out 6 lug nuts and not leave any mark whatsoever...Hmmmmm, next time I'm marking the tires myself, LOL.

Damn bro, good looking out. Sarah got back to me with awesome shipping prices compared to what most companies charged. I'm adding options to my order now

Personally...after the warranty is over, I don't plan on using Servco unless I absolutely have too. Better mechanics in smaller shops and if you know one...stay with him...:)

If you heard it once...it's always gonna be there (intermittent or not). I recommend taking it in and saying it's always there! Don't leave any room for them to dismiss your issue or future problem...

If any of you guys ever have an issue getting a warranty or TSB item fixed and they give you shit...lmk. I personally am good friends with the General Manager of the Oahu Servco. I can call him and make it happen should any issue arise that's not honored. Luckily, I didn't have to utilize him for my issue and it was done with no hassle.

Tried searching around a bit, but sometimes I'm internet dumb. Looking to do camping in truck either in the bed or cab (depending on weather). Have any one done this in Hawaii? If so, how do you keep cool? I've done camping in my bed with just tarp, but that was in the desert.

Could you describe the knocking you where having? Cause my truck ticks like crazy, when on idle or driving not too sure if it's the "Tacoma tick" but I took it in before, they said nothing is wrong. But here and there. There's always someone asking what is that noise

The ticking sound is normal. The knocking sound is similar to when you have bad gas and when you accelerate you hear a dieseling type of sound. It only lasts for a second or two. Try drive up a steep grade slowly and that's where mine was most present with the sound.

This is the tech version summed up:
A knock sensor is a peizoresistor, basicly a crystal that when you put pressure on it creates a voltage. So with the engine running and running correctly (no knock) It creates a voltage that is sent to the ecu, that tells it everything is all good. When knock occurs it throws off the vibration of the engine thus changing the voltage being generated by the knock sensor, which is being sent to the ecu, in which the ecu goes "hey wait a min its not supposed to do that". So it will take safety precautions to save your motor. By either retarding the timing or sending more fuel, or if its really bad send the car into limp mode. Which will allow you to drive the car slowly either home or to a shop. Knock is bad because it creates uneven pressure in the cylinder causing extra wear on engine parts and not using your fuel to its full potential. And can cause things to go bad really fast. Like blowing out your rings, blowing a hole in your piston or burning a valve.

The Toyota TSB I posted flashes the correct settings to the ECU to control the knocking.

Mines doesn't knock after you explained it to me. But I'll try going up the hill to see if I do have it or not. But like what raycie said, my tick is pretty loud......

    Yeup, that's me
