I voted for the F150 because I didn't want the Colorado to win.

Well, this is a forum for Tacoma enthusiasts. At the end of the day, you have to make the decision based on what is going to serve your needs best and what you like best. Love my Tacoma. Looks good. Runs good. Fits in my garage. Easy to maneuver in parking garages (rare that I take it there, but at times I do). I get a lot of good comments from people even though it's mostly stock except for the cap. Wife and I are empty nesters so rarely have people in the back seat. Really does meet my needs. But,,,, I have a strong urge for a "full size" truck again. The new F150's are super nice, they have crazy good incentives right now, and I wouldn't mind more room inside the truck for those times when we want to take other people with us and I would like to use the truck and not the wife's Santa Fe Sport. Biggest issue for me really is I won't be able to keep an F150 Super Crew in the garage. Like I said in a previous post, if one of my sons or someone I know wants my Tacoma, that will probably push me into a new F150. The saga continues for me, but do what you feel is right for you.

Love the DCLB in MGM. Can't wait until we see more DCLB OR's.

Super Crew FX4... $2000 in graphics added. You're looking at 45K there, easy.

45K sticker maybe. Lariat FX4's here can be found for 45K after some wheeling and dealing. I'm guessing the USA would be at least 5K less than that, if not more.

What does that matter? I would assume you could do the same wheeling and dealing with a toyota, and therefore the starting cost difference is still a factor.

Point being, F-150's are expensive as hell. Very nice trucks, but expensive.

6-10K off an F150 average versus 3K off a Tacoma at most isn't the same in most peoples world. the F150 is only expensive if you pay close to sticker, which only saps do.

Yeah, gotta love the guy that knows nothing about buying trucks and yet comes in and drops the "Ford is too expensive" line. Do some negiotating. If you are interested in the larger truck the price is pretty close.

Got to love the Internet, people making generalization about others without know a thing about them.

For the sake of showing you for an a$$. I actually work for one of the largest dealership groups in the country. Got my start at a Ford Dealership. So please, go on and tell me more about my lack of experience in "negotiating". I'm sure your hardcore message board ego has won you many a deals in the showroom. Probably got your last truck for free. Or you have no idea how much more you overpaid than what a dealer could actually sell the truck for.

    But yes, Ford is Expensive.

Ok, here are my real numbers for an F-150:

    2015 XLT SuperCrew 5.5' bed
    4x4
    2.7L Ecoboost
302A (Power seats, SYNC, Heated seats, privacy glass, back up camera, LED bed lights, etc.)
Sport Package (body colored bumpers, center console, black interior, etc)
Payload Package (3.73 gears, e-locker, mechanical parking brake)
Tow Package (Class IV hitch, wiring, etc)

MSRP after $2,000 factory discount is $47,050 including destination.

Between rebates ($6,050) and dealer discount ($6,000) I can buy this truck for $35,050 + $699 doc fee + $100 title fee + 7% sales tax (Georgia).

Here is what I think a Tacoma will cost. I have not run these through my local dealer (waiting on Costco, actually), but it should be close:

    2016 TRD Sport DCSB
    Manual Trans
    4x4

    MSRP $32,100 + $2,360 (Premium & Tech) + $650 (Tow Package) + $329 (Carpet Mats) + $600 (advertising fee?) + $398 (doc fee) + $935 (destination) = $37,372.

Ideally, I hope I could knock $2,500 off that, which would mean a price of $34,872 plus 7%.

    So bottom line:

    F-150 = $38,358 OTD
    Tacoma = $37,313 OTD

Just over $1k difference. Add about $400 more for the 2016 F-150 since they raised the price on a few items according to Ford's website.

Yes $1K difference off the lot, but 3 years from now, I bet that difference is easily 3K in the favor of the Taco after resale etc. Granted that isnt even a factor if you hold the truck for 10+ years. But if you dont like Ford, watch out come resale time. IF you dont like the Taco come resale you'll be glad you got the Taco.

But that is pretty damn enticing. Getting a nice loaded F-150 for the price of a Taco. Tough decision for sure. But if you are even thinking of getting a F150, dont get a 5.5ft bed for facks sake, thats even softer then 5ft beds on a Taco (jk)!

Not everyone needs the long bed. Ive never been hindered in getting my work done by the short bed. For some guys it's a deal breaker, but for me the 5.5 bed is perfect.
