Did you relocate your exhaust or get the clearanced transfer case skid? Relocated today, ready to see them mounted up.

 

I did not relocate the exhaust. I went the easy way on the skids.

 

Funny drunken campfire story for AOP to try to redeem my myself for poor/unsafe grinder skills. Make no mistake, this story does still start with me making a dumbassed mistake, but this time the angle grinder swoops in and saves the day (instead of swooping in and trying to eat my bag).

 

"Eat my bag" just left such a horrific image in my mind ......... Thank you ....... Now I have to slurp my breakfast up off the table after regurgitating it

 

Doesn't the exhaust hang lower then the tcase? Or some stupid shit like that?

I got my bead locks together and on my truck ....

 

IDK if I will have time to take my truck to get the sliders welded on before the trip coming up.

 

Mine was about an inch lower than the cross member. I think the skid is flush up to the cross member.

 

That's a bummer, man. They really tied the rig together.

 

Why not? I'm assuming you're getting a shop to do it? You cant drop the truck off?

 

This will probably go down as one of the most economical purchase in the long run for a truck that gets utilized as a truck (whether offroad or utility). According to 2 Toyota Warehouses, there are only 2 left in the system and they don't know if Toyota is making anymore. This option came out in 2012 and hasn't been repeated since, however, if you are buying a truck new, supposedly you can upgrade to this instead of carpet from the factory only, for an additional 50$.




It MSRP's at 546.64 (way too much). A guy in GA got his for 387 + tx (6% came out to 410.22). One dealer in clarksville, TN said out the door for 510 was the lowest, I called to the dealer across the stateline in hopkinsville, KY and he offered 464$ out the door. Since I wanted it now and not after the meet, I went with 464 (I could have waited some more time and got it as I drove through GA for 410ish but for the 54$, it was worth it to me to have it now.

 

Damn! Get to work son! And that price is so high for some plastic rubber flooring! Shouldve sound proofed the floor while you were at it. Haha

 

You're right, it is high. The underneath also has the same carpet liner that the stock carpet has also. I would have liked to add some sound deadener but dont have the materials and from other people they said its really not different from the carpet...so Ill find out today haha

 

So hopped in my truck this morning and started driving and have a terrible squeak under throttle. Not a constant squeal, but a squeak and it speeds up as the truck speeds up, but goes away at 20mph. I can grab my driveshaft and wiggle it at the carrier bearing. Pretty much narrowed it down to that or a a ujoint. That would explain it only being under power because of the pressure applied to those parts.

That being said, how hard is a carrier bearing and ujoints to replace?
