    Yes.

Contact with air causes Aluminum to oxidize, once there is a layer of Aluminum Oxide nothing more will happen. More hostile environments, such as saltwater, cause corrosion. The end result of corrosion for all intents and purposes vehicle related will pretty much mirror that of rust.

btw - Did a 5th grader write Ford's new slogan? "This is the new F-150 and every other truck is history." LOL, really? are they kidding.....how clever.

Painted aluminum is more corrosion resistant than painted steel.

Happens all the time for cyclist who spend all a lot of time biking on alloy bikes. Sweat drips on the tubes and starts working away at it.

These days panels are pretty much all galvanized steel, so panel corrosion isn't a big issue. The frame on my '03 4Runner rusted so badly that Toyota replaced it, but there is no rust on any of my body panels. The big advantage of aluminum is the reduced weight. That said, aluminum body panels are more expensive both to buy and to repair. TANSTAAFL.

What is even funnier is that GM is also going to use aluminum body panels for their full size truck in a couple years.

Only expensive because the market is mostly steel. Once more cars have aluminum panels the cost will even out.
Yup. Can't wait to see the spin on that

GM will just keep their mouth shut and hope that by 2017 everyone will have forgotten about that. If asked, their PR flacks will say things like "I'll have to get back to you on that..."

Probably going to see a wave of commercials featuring the obligatory deep, raspy, mid-American voice insinuating that only posers and pansies lack the macho hard working criteria for a real American work truck. I'm sure they'll end it with a cheesy b-roll and 1-liner combo a la "..leaving the rest, to get left *dramatic pause* in the dust."

Or use uselessly long descriptors to show their awesomeness. "Do you know which truck has the most V8 horsepower in it's class and fuel economy in it's class*", "Silverado"...

Without clarifying that the 6.2L is the worst truck on the market in the half ton segment on gas and the 5.3 L is pretty much useless compared to the 5.0 L and 5.7 L engine Ford and Dodge are running for power...

I prefer the old best payload, best towing, best power ads rather than this pansy ass manipulative BS GM pulls.

Remember. As long as 1 engine achieves the claims they can say it :p

Most car companies already use aluminum parts for some other sheet metal

You'll test drive that 4.6L right? I owned a 2011 Tundra DC 4x4 4.6L & the trans hunted like crazy. Made me not like at all plus the 1-2 mpg savings over the 5.7L wasn't worth it especially with the constant changing in the shifting. It was a nice truck with all the amenities, but the size & shifting brought me back to a 2013 Tacoma.
