Bummer they don't offer the manual trans in the low end model.

And they must be pretty confident with the mpg, not offering a 5 lug anymore.

That would be the trim I would be looking at but I'm not crazy about the power moonroof nor use it in my past vehicles. I do like the blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert. I guess I'll just wait and see it in person when the time comes

I don't think there is enough room in the access cab for the power sunroof.

I wonder how much GoPro is paying to have that mount included in the Tacoma?

I agree, a power supply would be a way better way to go and then you could put a decent Dash Cam up there.

I for one will not be buying an overpriced GoPro camera...

Oups, I quoted the wrong messge... I was refering the the DCSB automatic, which is not available in Canada. I want to do off-road and the lengthy DCLB is too long, and I need DC to bring my children with me. I mignt consider buying from the US, but it is a painfull process to get it approved and licensed here.

Damn Toyota. My wife will get more argument to get a Jeep...

You could always get a manual transmission.

Yes, but shifting while climbing is not fun, and the fuel economy, if similar to 2015, is better with the automatic transmission. This is important for me since I am planning to use the Tacoma many time for long trips in Utah, driving from Montreal.

Well then looks like you have to go through the hassle of importing one from the US.
Have you tried asking your dealer if they can special order a DCSB for you. You never know unless you try or send a Email to Toyota Canada.

I went to my dealer last Thursday. He found out the Toyota had inserted the 2016 in their ordering system, but with a ton of TBD. I should follow up in 2 weeks. Maybe a special order is possible. since I am not in an immediate hurry but mostly looking to get the truck in March or April, I have some time before ordering. I still fell it would be better to reserve one. My dealer suggested to do this, and if I don't want the truck on its arrival, they would refund my deposit without any question. They surely will find another buyer.

Thats the deal I have. I get to look at the Truck, Drive it then come to terms on pricing. If I don't want the Truck I get my $500 deposit back and they will sell the truck to someone else.

Importing an approved vehicle from the US is easy and painless if you follow the 3 easy steps. The only thing you need to check if Toyota Canada will honor the warranty, or if you have to take it to the US for warranty service. You need to check the RIV list to see if it's on the list of approved vehicles (I'm sure it will be), and it has to have daytime running lights that cannot be turned off, and a chipped key. That's it. Fill out the RIV form, pay the fee, obtain a recall clearance letter from the seller, and then fax or email a copy of the title to the US border crossing point that you'll be using at least 72 hours before you cross. They check on the VIN to be sure it's not stolen and when you show up, they will check the VIN on the vehicle. Then once you cross into Canada, you pay the GST, and when you register it in your province, you pay the PST. I've done it and it was painless. But the our petro dollar has taken a dive, so it may not be worth it to buy one in the US.

No official specs, no reviews, no test drive......

Did you even see the truck in person?

He has the option of driving the vehicle, coming to terms on price. Specs are out Aug 17. And if he doesn't like the Truck or the deal he gets his deposit back. Dealer will sell the Truck to someone else.

He better get that in writing - very clear and unambiguous writing.

I have been saying that for over a month when deposits started dropping. Each state has it's own laws on deposits and whether they have to be refunded or not

I owned a 2008 Tacoma and loved it and I'm a huge Toyota fan. Spent Countless hours online consuming everything out there on the 2016. I understand the differences and similarities enough to know what it is. It's enough for me to put a refundable deposit down on one. Unless it turns out to not look like the pics/video or to ride worse then my 2008 it will be a go for me.

I imported my 2008 Tacoma new from the US, took about 20 minutes at the boarder and a stop at Canadian Tire on the way home. I'm not sure what the hassle is that is mentioned.
The warranty is no issue as it is covered on both sides of the border, I've dealt with 4 different dealers in my area and none have even mentioned that it's a US truck when doing warranty work.
I've imported 5-6 cars now including most recently a friends RX350, in all cases less then 4 hours after crossing the boarder we have had them fully licensed and sitting in my driveway.

    Shawn.
