I had a Toyota-brand bed mat in my last Tacoma. It was durable but a bit ugly with random strings sticking out all over the place.

Is there a better looking and just-as-durable bed mat out there?

Best one on the market is the OEM Toyota Tacoma mat. Much better now than anything they offered in the past. I've been shopping around for the best mat I can get and have looked at just about everything available. Price is good too!

I really like the Toyota bed mat too. Its tacky enough to keep things from sliding around, looks good, and the quality seems good too. Maybe not the cheapest option but the price is fair.

The OEM mat is good quality and at slightly over $100 shipped is a good value also. Value for your money, I don't think that you can do better. You can get cheaper but you get what you pay for.

I just bought the OEM mat on eBay for $101.00 shipped. The best I could fine. Amazon is $108

I am considering a mat as well. I wonder though, does water/debris get under the mat? I assumed with how the truck bed has ridge in it, that would have space for at least water to pool up and possibly get stagnant?

Can anyone that uses a bed mat without a cover/topper comment on this?

The OEM mat has nubs that hold the mat off the bed allowing water to drain..

    Well....That's an interesting read.

Quite often, I will look at the numbers of people with whom I have a great deal of respect for their opinions, then go with that. Their opinions carry that much weight with me. I've heard at least a dozen such folks express their high regard for Fluid Film (on a number of sites with a wide variety of subject matter)

I've also noticed as I go through life that there are quite a number of self proclaimed "experts" in areas where they have no experience whatsoever. Those "experts" are never short on opinions, even if they are VERY short on actual facts.

You being included with the former, your new found buddy being with the latter.

I have a "Protecta" bed mat.... I got it at my local auto accessories place. It's a GREAT mat and nice & thick & heavy.
Love it! You can find them for under $150

Yes....water & debris can get under it. It's all a matter of personal preference. After it rains, I don't worry about it so much.
But, if I wash the truck....I take the mat out and I don't put it back in unless the bed is dry.

The parts guy at my Toyota dealer told me the OEM mat is less than $90. (when I asked him to "ballpark" the price a couple weeks ago) There is one sitting in the parts dept waiting for me to pick it up on my next visit.

That looks almost identical to my OEM mat, except for the lack of "TACOMA" on it. Wonder if the OEMs are really those rebranded.

That said, I got my OEM mat for under $100. Think I found it for low 90s shipped.

I needed to stop by the Toyota dealer and pick up a few things. Ended up walking out the door with a new bed mat slung over my shoulder. I need to quit going in that place. Every time I do, I buy stuff I didn't go in to get! It's all you guys fault too....

I've had all sorts of aftermarket mats. Had a few I cut out of sheet rubber stock. Had a couple that were horse stall mats. This one is at the top, if not THE BEST one I've ever had. Fits better'n OJ's gloves, looks great, grips stuff like it has glue on the face of it, and the best part, I used my wife's credit card to pick it up! (Cool until she sees it on her bill....Then I plead ignorance of the law)

Regarding DeeZee rubber bedmats, Amazon reviews indicated very inconsistent quality, with some having the stringy crap on the edges mentioned earlier by another poster.

I opted for this one from a local truck accessory store, looks like Janster's above, $89. Brand is TrailFX, but I think most are made by the same mfg. and just rebranded.

This one has a score mark for short beds, too. Nice and tacky, stuff stays still, works great.

I like it when they get a little dirt and dust ingrained so it is a little less tacky. This was the one in my 01.
