If anyone wishes to give advice. Wife and I are heading towards Buffalo River in a couple weeks - I was curious of any areas along the way there that we can "get off the beaten path" for some private camping that is not so off-road technical I would need other vehicles with me. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    P.S. That trip looked great!

Great idea usually, but this one is our yearly fall trip of get away from everyone kind of thang.
It seems out west there are so many more options for getting secluded areas in public lands, but around here it is just private land surrounded by private land.

Yup! I grew up is southern Utah and 95% of the land out there is public. I never even thought twice about just taking off into the mountains. Around here is crazy how much land it private and fenced in. We should start a OK public lands thread. Would be great to have a few go-to places to get away.

I feel your pain. I grew up out in the desert of so. Cal. Nothing but open public land. It killed my offroad/adventure side when I moved out here. Sold my dirt bikes, sold my 4x4. Got old and boring. Lately I've been getting more involed. Finding a lot over in Arkansas. Might have to hunt down this oklahoma adventure trail.

OAT is basically a loop around the state that was mapped out a d thought up by a group of dual sport riders. From what I can tell it's about 90% dirt and offroad. Looks like it goes to some pretty cool areas. Hits the K trail, frog rock, glass mountain, the salt plain (can't remember the name right now) anyway from what I have read trucks/jeeps can make it thru the whole thing. Should take a good 4+ days to do the whole trip, but it can be easily broken up into sections. There is also a link to all the "tent camping" areas in the state.

I just got off work and about to crash out, but I'll find and post the link to the 40+ page thread when I get up. There are free links to all the gpx files etc

Any of you guys familiar with ON-TORC? Oklahoma Nissan/Toyota Off Road Club I think. There's a Facebook group. Anyways, they're planning a trip out to Arbuckle weekend of April 8th if anyone is interested
