Front Locker options on a 2015

    I see a lot of posts talking about how great the arb air locker is. I'd like to hear from people who have a front e-locker. And anyone with a front arb? Pros cons..

    I want to keep the LSD system in place and just wondering what my best option for a front locker is. Definitely want it to be selectable. After that, I don't know what I want..:help:

    Great! Why? Why not an e-locker? Do you have a front arb?

    front and rear diffs on the trd sport are open diffs.... any "LSD" is simulated through braking of the slipping tire. Throw a locker in the rear before throwing one in the front.

    You know this for sure? Dealer said it was mechanical..

    Early 2nd gens had a mechanical one in the sport. Your 2015 is electronically simulated.

    everything after 2008 (so 2009+) has the brake simulated LSD and an open diff.

    Ok. So adding a rear locker won't interfere with that fake LSD?

    And why do the rear rather than front if I'm just doing one for now?

    When locked both tires will turn at the exact same speed so the electronic LSD would not engage.

    The majority of your traction from tackling obstacles/hills comes from the rear. If you are in a situation where you need the extra traction to justify the locker, you want the traction out back where it will be most useful. Also locking the front will make steering much more difficult when locked.

    You can do a wiring mod to add a simulated LSD to your front diff, like is used in the rear, for increased front traction.

    Is this legit info? Seems like most of the weight would be on the front wheels so wouldnt those provide better traction?

    Usually when using a locker you are trying to get over/up something, meaning the vehicle is inclined and the weight balance has shifted toward the rear. It is not often one uses a locker on flat ground (unless in mud) or a decline. It could be argued I suppose that you would want to put it up front because you are more likely to lose traction up front with limited IFS travel and reduced weight when attempting to climb and obstacle. Every OEM manufacture puts the locker in the rear.

    It is free. It is known as the 'yellow wire mod'. It basically acts like a less aggressive version of A-TRAC.
